The meeting was opened at 7.30pm by the Chairman, Ray Howlett, who warmly welcomed all

members. Our Guest is Ray Hodges from Brisbane.

There was no business arising from the Minutes.

Treasurer’s Report:

Our Business Account has a current balance of $1858.15, which includes deposits for

raffles, Mother’s Day and Advertising, and withdrawals for printing & postage, balance of Mother’s

Day, and raffle prizes. The Web Savings Account has a balance of $15,293.71.

Past Events:

David Willmott recalled a “ripper day”, where once again Ron Gaudion excelled himself with a

Mother’s Day luncheon at Hope Island Golf Club, complete with roses, a birthday cake for the

Chairman, and a boot sale and arts & crafts thrown in free! Well done, Ron. The mid-week run to

Kalbar was also a beautiful day, with Morning Tea at Wyaralong Dam (including a bonus

European Skinny Dipping Exhibition), and then a lovely lunch. Thanks, once again, to the

Coopers for a great day!

Future Events:

“Mid-Week Run” (3 June) – Meet at Bischoff Pioneer Park, Nerang, at 9.00am for a 9.30am start.

BYO morning tea in the Numinbah Valley, before lunch at Flutterbies Cottage Café at Tyalgum.

Lunch at own cost.

“Throw a Snag on the Barbie” (14 June) – Meet at Arthur Earle Park, Nerang, at 9.00am for a

9.30am start, for a BYO Morning Tea and BYO wood-fire BBQ on Mt. Tamborine. .

“Overnight Mid-Week Run” (1 July) – Meet at Arthur Earle Park, Nerang, at 8.30am for 9.00am

start. BYO morning tea at Peakes Crossing and lunch at Somerset Dam. Overnight at Mountain

Inn Resort, Montville. Bed & Dinner $225 per couple. Please pay $80 deposit per couple at

tonight’s meeting.

“Christmas in July” (12 July) – Lunch at Bungunyah Manor, Mt. Tamborine $40 per head. Further

details in May’s magazine.

“Chairman’s Weekend” (28-30 Aug) – A lovely two-night trip to Bellingen. Keep the date in your

diary – more details to follow next month.

“The Little Theatre Night” (24 Sept) – please note in your diary for Australia’s notorious wedding

comedy, “Dimboola”. Cost, including light supper, $22.50 per head.

General Business:

Steve Duncan asked for a volunteer to hold the BBQ spot for 14 June. Ian and Fran Ritchie

very generously agreed.

The monthly “10-minute Profiler”, Richard Crawshay, spoke of his introduction, from a very early

age, to Jaguars, and his love of the cars from then on. His long association with the Jaguar

Drivers’ Club continues, and we welcome him to the Gold Coast Register. Thanks to Richard for

his most amusing anecdotes.

There being no further business to discuss, the Chairman then thanked Sunshine Jaguar for their

generosity in providing the venue and supper, and closed the meeting at 8.25pm.

To vary our monthly mid-week events, an overnight run to Montville is planned for Wednesday 1st July and Thursday 2nd July. On Wednesday it is planned to have a BYO morning tea at Peakes Crossing followed by a BYO lunch at Somerset Dam. The overnight accommodation will be at the Mountain Inn Resort, Montville. Cost per double for a four course dinner on Wednesday evening and accommodation is $225. On Thursday morning an optional breakfast will be available at the resort at members cost. For single accommodation please contact David Willmott. A deposit of $80 is required by the June meeting. Meet at Arthur Earle park at 8.30am for a 9.00am departure on 1st July. This year the Gold Coast Chairman’s Weekend Away will be held in Bellingen, with accommodation at the Bellingen Valley Lodge over two nights

Friday, 28th to Sunday 30th August

The cost for the weekend will include: Two night’s accommodation;

Two Morning Teas; Two - 2 course Evening Meals; and

Two Full Breakfasts.

There will also be welcome drinks and nibbles on arrival

Full Bar facilities are available but NO BYO!

The cost is $590 for double or $420 single

(Out of pocket expenses include the cost for two lunches, drinks and fuel)

Numbers are limited so Book Early

Numbers and payment are required by the Gold Coast July meeting
