Food & Rationing ExerciseObjectives:1. To understand and be aware that

psychological defence is to be prepared for emergencies, e.g. during war-time

2. Survival in war-time is also about rationing the amount of basic food and water that is stored

Singapore is our homeland; this is where we belong.

•Did you know what happen today in history 72 years ago? •The Battle of Singapore was fought in the Second World War when the Empire of Japan invaded the Allied stronghold of Singapore•Singapore was the major British military base and the fighting in Singapore lasted from 8–15 February 1942.

We must preserve racial and religious harmony.

•During war-time and crisis, there is a worry that there will be shortages of food supplies so a system of rationing was introduced.•Rationing made sure that people got an equal amount of food every week.

We must uphold meritocracy and incorruptibility.

•The government was worried that as food became more scarce, prices would rise and poorer people might not be able to afford to eat.•There was also a danger that some people might hoard food, leaving none for others.

No one owes Singapore a living.

• In some countries, they learn to prepare and stock up during disasters such as hurricanes or in the event there is an epidemic. •Food security: To prevent spoilage, the supplies are rotated, with the food being eaten every six months, then restocked.

We must ourselves defend Singapore.

•WHO812 Singapore INFANTRY Regiment (SIR), an infantry battalion comprising of about 500 NSmen,

undergoing TRAINING (about 14 days) where they will undergo a rigorous defence exercise.
