NEK recently began deliveries of a high end, PCAP (projected capacitance) display module, with 10 finger touch capability, for a customer that produces state-of-the-art desktop computer platforms for Stock and Bond traders. In addition to the touch screen, NEK will supply almost a dozen molded plastic housing components with pressed hardware, along with several large, complex, fabricated cosmetic metal components, the keyboard, cabling, etc. The new touchscreen-based product will replace an existing system that incorporates several complex keyboards provided by NEK and has been selling 15,000 to 25,000 systems per year over the last six years. The customer expects similar volumes for the new product. High resolution 1280 X 800 RGB 10.1 inch LCD display. EETI controller-based, 10 finger touch, touchscreen controller circuitry. Normally black transmissive display mode. TFT active matrix 216.96mm W x 135.60mm H active area. Backlight power consumption 1.86W. Panel power consumption 1.0W. Oversized bezel type projected capacitive touchscreen. Touchscreen is optically bonded to display. NEK designed a custom, kapton based, impedance matched electronics card to communicate with the customers host electronics.
