Easy piano fun for everyone

The most realistic piano sound and touch availableThe KR-5 incorporates the best of Roland’s sound technology,

and offers the world’s finest and most realistic piano tones; itsounds just like a full concert acoustic grand. It feels like one too.Its authentic touch comes from Roland’s unique ProgressiveHammer Action Keyboard, which employs real hammers ratherthan springs. The keyboard has a realistic touch resistance, with alighter response when playing soft pianissimo passages and astronger response on fortissimo passages. It also provides a lightertouch in the upper range and a heavier touchin the lower range. The KR-5 delivers eachdelicate nuance of your fingers perfectly andnaturally, just like an acoustic grand.

Authentic instrument tonesand exciting auto-accompaniment

In addition to its realistic piano tones the KR-5 offers morethan 600 other lifelike instrument sounds. Whatever sort of instru-ment you’d like to play—stringed, wind, synth or percussion fromanywhere in the world—you can. Do you need piano accompani-ment? A symphony? Or a rock band backing you? It’s simple withthe KR-5. Special expressive tones, backing styles and auto-accom-paniment features make you feel like you’re playing right in themiddle of a real live band. Best of all, you can quickly and easilyaccess all these features through the large LCD touchscreen.

Enhanced, easy-to-use lesson featuresThe KR-5 comes loaded with fun new features to back up yourpiano practice sessions. The main attraction is the “DigiScore”function, which displays the score for the song right on its largescreen. The KR-5 also offers an improved “Rhythm Partner”metronome function. Displayed with a “Bouncing LED” on thepanel, this function lets you choose the KR-5’s percussion anddrum backup rhythms, providing the right beat and more realismfor the piece you are playing, and helping you develop a naturalsense of rhythm and timing.

“Wonderland:” Fun, interactive practice for children

The KR-5 contains an “edu-tainment”feature called ‘‘Wonderland” designed specif-ically for children. With large, animatedonscreen graphics—and a variety of instru-ments and voices such as guitar, trumpet, drums, barking dog and locomotive—children can enjoy fun interactivelessons, and six exciting musical andnote-guessing games to help themdevelop their ear for music and theirsense of rhythm.

The “Music Assistant” is an intelligent help function that assists you in setting upthe auto-accompaniment which best suits the particular song or style you want to play. You simply select a song title, or even just a key word related to the song, and the MusicAssistant’s auto-setup feature will choose a music style that suits that song perfectly. The KR-5 comes with more than 100 preset set-tings —each with four different variations— forprofessional backup accompaniment. The“DigiScore” displays the scores from over 170 preset songs, Standard MIDI Files, orsongs you record yourself. You can choose to display the staff along with the notename, finger number, chord name, or lyrics. Or, you can display the right hand partor left hand part only. The unique “Touch the Notes” function lets you listen to anynote on the screen just by touching it on the “DigiScore” panel. Or, by dragging yourfinger over a phrase or series of notes to highlight them, you can play back just thatphrase immediately. A picture of the keyboard canalso be displayed on screen instead of the score, so youcan see and hear which key corresponds to each note, for smooth progress even if youcan’t yet read music. Anotherhandy feature is the “Replay”function pedal. By assigning thisfunction to the left pedal, you juststep on the pedal to stop themusic and try the phrase again. You never need to take yourhands off the keyboard.NOTE: The chord name display can only be used with some selections of the preset songs, and with songs that
