A unique opportunity to see the 18th centurywedding and trousseau dress of Mary WinifredPulleine, who was married to Walter Spencer-Stanhope of Cannon Hall in 1783.
The dresses have been recently conserved toallow them to be publicly displayed. Twominiature drawings of dress designs from theperiod have also been conserved.
The fragile state of the dresses means a shortdisplay only, so don’t miss this!

The Kings of England

"The Kings of England" is an exhibition ofpictures by South Yorkshire basedphotographer Graeme Oxby. The photographsexplore the world wide cultural impact of ayoung man from Memphis who fused countrymusic and blues, shook his hips and becamethe most photographed man in history.
Thirty eight years after his death, the fascination with Elvis lives on through thelegions of impersonators or “Tribute Artists”. Aworldwide phenomenon, Elvis Tribute Artists,perform regularly in pubs, clubs and theatresup and down the British Isles.

Thissmall exhibition, highlights links betweenBarnsley and the U.S. In the archivecollections you can find the commemorativebiography that was received in Barnsley fromthe U.S. administration in 1865, and lettersthat were sent back to Barnsley from bothemigrants and those fighting in the AmericanWar of Independence.

An exhibition of objects and archives gifted toExperience Barnsley since opening in June2013. On display will be an unexpectedly widevariety of items including a Sooty xylophone,a Wolsey string vest and pants and a MaxBygraves record. It’s all about Barnsley!
