Include the process of: Review the tour brief Develop tour objectives Research the needs of the audience Research the stories Liaise with operator/related people to gather the

information Build the commentary Research & check the route Research & check activity-sequence options Develop/access tour itinerary Decide relevant activities Prepare logistic elements

6.3 REVIEWING THE TOUR BRIEF- Main purpose is to provide guides with the relevant

information to plan and deliver the tour

- This is very important before the tour takes place. It will include:

Procedures & itineraries Accommodation, transportation

Operational logistics B’ground of tour group & Special requirements

Information on attractions Detail of people involved

Optional tours Emergency contacts & procedures

6.4 DEBRIEFING (EVALUATION) SESSION AFTER THE TOUR

- Might require the guides to complete a report that covers on:

Compliments, complaints, feedback Mishaps or incidents Deviation to scheduled itinerary & reason Improvement suggestion

6.5 OHS, RISK MGT & LIABILITY

BETWEEN a tour provider (tour operator/tour guide/tour leader)

WITHThe relevant audience (client/visitors/customer)

The safety & well-being of all parties is protected The tours delivers what it promises to deliver The tour conducted within a legal and ethical framework All tour conditions which are stated in any operational or

legal documents are adhered All people involved with the tour behave responsibly

- Obligations of the tour include: Manage OHS issue Liaise with the relevant organizations to obtain appropriate

approvals and operating framework Implement a duty of care which includes adopting risk-

management procedures

6.6 TOUR AS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE

- Interpretation in a tour activity defined as a “learning experience which seeks to enrich the meaningful relationships we hold with our world, to foster and build set of values which support these relationship”

- 3 types of learning:a) Cognitive learning – learning new facts and figureb) Psychomotor learning – developing skills such as learning new trade, identificationc) Affective learning – Use emotions, feelings and values- A positive learning experience encourages people to learn, develop positive attitude, value the focus, process their learning, act as a loyal ambassador of the learning providers
