Parking-Frequently Asked Questions

You likely have a number of questions regarding parking at Clark Atlanta University. The following

FAQs should answer many of your questions. If you have any additional questions, please contact the

parking office at 404 880-6295 or via email at [email protected].

Visitor Parking

Visitor parking is located behind the Student Center on the intersection of Atlanta Student Movement and

Mildred Street. Hourly parking is available for visitors with a maximum charge of $5.00 per day. An

attendant is available during business hours. After hours, weekends and holidays the cashier booth and

office are closed, however, customers can pay their parking fee at the automated pay station that is

located at the transient exit area with cash or credit card (Visa, Master Card & Discovery)

Do I need to purchase a permit?

All vehicles coming to Campus must have a permit. Any vehicle on campus that does not have a permit

will be immobilized and have to pay a fine or even towed. If you prefer to pay as you park, you can find

hourly and daily rates at the University's Parking Deck located on the intersection of Mildred and Atlanta

Student Movement. However you will save a lot by buying a permit. Permits are issued on a first-come,

first-serve basis; so it is recommended that you complete the process as soon as possible.

Where do I purchase the permit?

The Parking Office located in the parking garage on the intersection of Atlanta Student Movement and

Mildred Street.

What are the methods of payment?

The parking office accepts cash, money order and credit card (Visa, Master card and Discovery)

Can the charge for the permit be applied to my students account?

No, the parking office is not able to apply charges to a student’s account at this time. If you are due a

financial aid refund, the University will process the refund following the standard process and you can

use those funds to pay for the permit

Where a residential student park and what are the fees?

Surface lots adjacent to the residential buildings are made available for students who reside on campus.

The price for these adjacent lots is $72.50/semester/$145 per year. Residential students are also allowed

to park in the Parking Deck.

Where can a non-residential student park and what are the fees?

Parking is available for students who do not reside on campus in the Parking Deck located on the

intersection of Mildred and Atlanta Student Movement. The price is $112.50 per semester/$225 per year.

Can I let my friends use my permit or access card

No. The only person who may use a permit or access card is the person to whom the permit was issued.

All permits are non-transferable. If you are caught using a permit other than your own, you could receive

a costly citation and get your car impounded, not to mention losing your parking privileges.

What are the hours for the various lots?

Parking Garage and all surface lots are open 24 hours, seven days per week. Permit holders must display

appropriate permits at all times.

My parents may visit me at Campus, where do they park?

Visitor parking is available at the Parking Deck.

I have a disability placard for my vehicle, do I have to purchase a permit and is there anything that

I need to do once I get to Campus?

Yes, you must purchase a permit; and your placard (or plate) must be verified by the Student Disability

Services office on Campus. The handicapped plate or placard must be issued in the student’s name in

order to use the handicapped spaces on campus

Where do motorcycles park on Campus?

There are dedicated motorcycle spaces on the first floor of the Parking Deck. They are available for

resident and non-resident students who have purchased a campus permit as well as for hourly parkers.

Motorcycles are also allowed to park in any open lot with a valid permit.

I lost my permit. Now what do I do?

Visit the Parking Office to have a replacement after paying the replacement fee. Once a permit is reported

lost, Parking Office marks the permit as invalid. Any vehicle displaying a lost permit will be fined and

impounded.
