services for people whilst on holiday.• A tourist is a person who make a tour or visits a
place for pleasure.• In 2003 international tourist arrivals number 691
million (up from 451 million in 1990).• In 2003 international tourist receipts were $523
billion dollars (up from $269 billion in 1990).

industry• It generates a large amount of money.• Many LEDCs see tourism as a way to
develop. They have a high % of their GDP from tourism
