TOURISM AND HERITAGE

• Tourism is travel for recreational, leisure or business purposes. Heritage relates to the elements of the past, which possibly should be treasured and handed over to the next generations in good condition.

• Melaka is divided into the new and old sections. The older part of the city is fairly compact and has many historical and cultural attractions.

Goal• The main goals of the study is to identify the tourism heritage place in the study

area and to make sure that the image of Malacca as World Historic City will be maintained and sustained through the conservation of the heritage.

• To analyze the potential, issue and other recent matters related with tourism in Malacca district

• To improve the activity and existing tourism product through suggestion and development in an area that has the potential to be developed

• Evaluating the level of tourism support facilities such as the infrastructure facilities, connectivity, and the hotel.

• Creating the tourism image , ‘market positioning’ and ‘market segmentation’ while the Malacca district still in local and international contexts

• To study back the relation and implication of the basis in development and related tourism program in national level, Malacca state and the local especially from the point of tourism image and the location of Malacca district

• Studying the level of existing tourism facilities such as accommodation, food facilities, souvenirs and operation or tourism operator,’homestay’ and others

• Evaluating the level of tourism infrastructure development such as public facilities, parking lot, sewer system, discharge system, electrical system, water system, telecommunication, signage system and others

• To study about the conservation of the built environment including heritage cities and buildings and the local cultures.

• To understand about the category of conservation such as building conservation, area conservation and cultural conservation.
