The Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau has participated in the
USA’s largest international tradeshow, IPW, for the past four years. The CVB
partners with the Oneida Nation and Door County to sell the Northeastern
Wisconsin area to international tour operators and media. One of the larger
receptive tour operators reported an increase in bookings of more than 100%.
The Green Bay Packers provide us with world-wide visibility, but our Native
American heritage, National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help and spectacular
natural beauty are all major draws. We even talk a bit about ginseng with the
Asian markets. The Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic is also drawing international
attention. A German tour group is already planning to visit this summer.
International interest continues to grow for attending Packers games as well. We
are working with a tour operator from the United Kingdom that is working on a
program to develop an “International Weekend” for a game in 2017. The CVB
marketing department communicates with many of the Packers fan bases
around the world via social media growing interest in Green Bay and assisting
tour operators by marketing their tours.
The Wisconsin Department of Tourism is leading the charge in International
marketing and through co-op opportunities. This makes it possible for Greater
Green Bay to get more active in this lucrative market, yet keep our costs down.
Greater Green Bay will be included in America’s primary printed marketing
piece, Discover America, again this year.

GREEN BAY ‘EMERGES’ ON CHICAGO
The Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau partnered with the Radisson
Hotel and Conference Center to exhibit at the recent Religious Conference
Management Association’s (RCMA) EMERGE conference in Chicago. This
conference combines a traditional trade show exhibit component with 15-minute
one-on-one appointments with religious meeting planners.
This year’s attendance consisted of almost 400 religious meeting planners; many
that plan meetings in the Midwest. We met with 14 planners during dedicated
appointment schedules, including many more who stopped by to chat about
Greater Green Bay during open expo hours.
We came back with several qualified leads for the area and will continue to follow
up on these accounts for future business.

Willkommen in Green Bay
To support the rise in Wisconsin’s overseas promotions, the CVB recently worked with the
Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s international advertising agency, Great Lakes USA. This
group was the driving force behind a Great Lakes region German travel brochure that will
be distributed to travel agencies. This is important because international tourists use travel
companies to book their extended holidays in the US.
Our Department of Tourism, along with Green Bay, Milwaukee and Racine purchased two
page ads, as did cities in Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan. This collaborative piece will be
used in Germany and the German-
speaking Switzerland areas. It features
beautiful photography and highlights major
attractions. Green Bay’s pages include
Lambeau Field, Oneida Nation, the
National Railroad Museum and the National
Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help.
