Murrells Inlet 2020 (MI2020) is a 501c3 non-profit community revitalization group that was formed in 1997. Thegroup’s mission is to promote and advance infrastructure improvements, enhance environmental education, initiatea redevelopment of the Murrells Inlet commercial districts, and utilize conservation and preservation methods tosecure quality wetlands for future generations of residents and visitors to appreciate. Each year, MI2020vigorously works to preserve, promote and protect Murrells Inlet, constantly striving to make Murrells Inlet a niceplace to live, work and visit.

Help Murrells Inlet 2020 Preserve our Precious Inlet and River

• Apply fertilizers and pesticides sparingly andaccording to directions, and be careful not to applybefore rain events.

• Reduce bacteria by picking up after pets anddisposing of the pet waste appropriately.

• Wash your car on your lawn or other porous areaswhere chemicals can be absorbed into the soil ratherthan running into the nearest stormwater drain thatwill eventually drain into our local waterways.

• Clean up spilled automobile fluids. Do not hosethem into the street towards stormwater drains thatlead to our local waterways.

• Dispose of lawn clippings in a compost pile.

• Harvest rooftop rainwater through rain barrels or rain gardens.

• Take paint, oil, antifreeze, debris or otherchemicals to your local county recycling center.

• Preserve mature trees and plant new trees.

• Maintain proper septic system function with inspections & pump-outs every three to five years.
