President’s Report for February

G’Day All,

E I hope everyone has had a good break and ready to get into full

swing again. Some of our Members travelled to Tamworth, either to perform

or just listen and I hope you all had a great time. At our last Committee Meeting we made a couple of changes with Glenda Albert now the Vice President and we welcome Graham Oulfson in as our new Committee Member. We started the year off with a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Fairfield Waters on New Year’s Day. This year we have a few Bunnings sausage sizzles as well as Intersports in conjunction with radio outside broadcasts, so we need your help, please let us know. People are already showing interest in Toomby’s on the 11th, 12th and 13th of August so it looks like being bigger and better this year. Instead of having our Jam Sessions at Palleranda this year we are going out to the Polo Cross on the corner of Hunter St and Southward Rd. Stuart. Laurie has organised this for us, so there is no need to erect gazebos or take the bbq. The dates are 23rd April, 23rd July and the 24th September, so put these dates in your diary. And yes there is a playground and plenty of room to kick the footy or play cricket. If you are on the sick list, get better soon as we miss you.

Country Always

Darryl

Congratulation to all my Friends and Family who were boring in the 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s!

- First we survived being born to mothers who smoked

and/or drank while they carried us and lived in

houses made of asbestos… They took aspirin, ate

blue cheese, raw egg products, loads of bacon and

processed meat, tuna from a can and didn’t get

tested for diabetes or cervical cancer

- We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or

cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or

shoes, not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.

- As children we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air

bags

-We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a

bottle

-Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no

pizzas shops, McDonalds, KFC, Subway or

Nandos.

-We share one soft drink with 4 friends from one bottle and

NOONE actually died from this.

-We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the

corner store and buy Toffees, Gobstoppers, bubble gum

and some bangers to blow up frogs with.
