Food Bank Sunday
We would like to bring back the focus of our first Sunday of
the month being FOOD BANK SUNDAY. There are so
many people who are just not able to make it thru the month
on whatever their income is and they need those foodbanks
just to survive. Can you help by bringing in a few cans or boxes of nonperishable food to share
or mark any financial donations “Food Bank”.
YTD Food Bank Totals - 208 pounds of food and $230
First Friday Feast
Friday October 4th is the first Friday of the month. We will be
taking the evening meal over to the youth at Coffee Oasis. We
serve a hot meal generally with Salad & dessert for the youth. If
you would like to help prepare the meal we meet here around 3:00pm. We would love to have
you join us! The more the merrier and it makes small work of everything. If you would prefer to
make a financial donation please mark it “Coffee Oasis”.
Thank you to all who participated with the Picnic and
Silent Auction. What a day! With all your help by
bringing in donations of items as well as spreading
the word to family and friends we were able to raise
just over $5,000.00 to help pay for the new roof
Special thanks to Shannon Davidson, Bob Vukich,
Wayne and Wendy Stowsand, Steve Atkinson,
Marci Woods, and Don and Katherin Janssen
World Mental Health Day
on October 10 (also my birthday). The theme for 2019 is
Preventing Suicide.
Here in Kathmandu we are organizing a 10k Fun Run on
October 1 to raise awareness that 1 in 4 Nepalese are affected
by mental health problems and to encourage people to get
help. Nepal’s female suicide rate is the 3rd highest in the world
and this is the country's leading cause of death among women
of reproductive age (15-49 years). This is a global health issue
that touches many families, mine included. Will you join me
this year in raising awareness to prevent suicide around the
world?

With warmth and sensitivity, this
study explores those barren,
difficult times when we feel alone
and desperate and shows how we
can emerge stronger and closer to
God than ever.
If you shop online please sign up at iGive and
shop thru them. All you have to do is go to them
first and then to your store, it’s that simple, then
TUMC gets a donation because of your
purchase.
