Introduction to CPDIntroduction

The 3 CPD days should focus primarily on the individual staff member.

Each staff member should have a CPD plan, completed by the end of September, signed off by their line manager, which sets out:

• What their development needs are, as identified through performance management/lesson observations/M&E activity (linked to academy’s priorities)

• How the 3 CPD days would be best used to address any weaknesses/areas for development• The intended impact of the 3 CPD days, and how this will be evaluated

Additional 3 CPD days

These INSET days will be led by your Head Teacher, and are an opportunity for training and professional development, driven by whole-academy needs and areas for improvement. These may include workshops, lectures, team activities and/or skills-based learning.

4 Academy-based INSET days

From this year, at least 1 of the 5 statutory INSET days will be devoted to a regional INSET. This will be led by your Regional Education Director, who will look at training and development needs across the region, to bring staff together enabling the sharing of best practice, and networking amongst your peers. We recognise that all our Academies have strengths, and within the region it is our responsibility to share those ideas, strategies and approaches. This new approach will help us to deliver continuous school improvement which is both innovative and evidence-based.

1 Regional INSET day per year

E-ACT believes that CPD and training are of paramount importance to investing in, and improving, the capability, performance and expertise of its teaching and leadership staff, who are the driving force behind improving our students’ achievement and progress.

For the 2016/17 academic year, the Trust has invested funding to allow for three additional days for the exclusive use of CPD and professional development for teaching staff.

These are in addition to the five core INSET days that exist statutorily. One of these INSET days per year will now be held regionally – bringing teaching staff together to facilitate peer to peer learning across our Academies.

This forms only one part of an E-ACT Training Programme we are rolling out in the 2016-17 academic year. There are a wide range of courses on offer, aimed at developing our:

• Teachers• Middle leaders• Senior leaders• Specialists• Executive leaders

Within this brochure you will find information about the courses available, their target audience, dates and locations.

Head Teachers: To book your staff onto these courses, please complete the booking form on the HR Page of Insight, and return to [email protected] by midday Monday 10th October.

Kindest Regards,

David Moran
