The following toolkit has been designed by Disney•Pixar and VisitScotland to be an efficient resource capable of being leveraged by

industry partners to help celebrate the release of Disney•Pixar’s BRAVE.

The assets and information included in this kit support partners in developing local consumer materials while serving as a central source

for all activity.

Included are all relevant materials, assets, key messaging guidance and information to allow you to capitalise on the tremendous

potential of a promotion with Disney•Pixar’s BRAVE.

Restricted Categories Under NO circumstances should the Disney brand, either directly or through indirect association and/or endorsement on its media platforms, be associated

with the following categories of advertising, sponsorship or promotional activities. The following categories are prohibited (this includes any thematic

references within any advertising, sponsorship, promotional or related creative content):

• Food, Drink, Restaurants, Cafes, Tearooms

• Car Hire Companies

• Non members of approved quality assurance schemes, applies to accommodation businesses only

• Alcohol and alcohol-related products, services and attractions (including low alcohol drinks, ‘alco-pops’ and liqueur chocolates).

• Inappropriate Content

• Pornography or any other products, themes or content with adult themes or themes of a sexual nature (e.g. contraceptives, adult toys)

• Drugs (including, without limitation, prescription medicines, tobacco or smoking related products and illegal / other illicit drugs / substances).

• Weapons (real & look alike replica guns and knives). Dangerous products including fireworks, matches.

• Political organisations or themes.

• Religion - the endorsement, advertising or promoting of individual religious or other spiritual or secular groups / organisations and their beliefs is prohibited, however we allow religious festival themes to be celebrated without any specific religious messaging attached

• Gambling including betting, lotteries and scratch cards.

• Violent sports or other potentially dangerous recreational activities.

• Diet / Slimming products such as diet pills / food substitutes / slimming shakes, items or services positioned as miracle solutions for weight problems.

• Death-related products and services (e.g. funerals, burial or other memorial products and services).

• Personal Hygiene; toilet paper, sanitary towels, etc.

The following templates contain all legal and promotional requirements (copyright lines, call to action, etc.) and have been approved by Walt

Disney Studios / Pixar Animation Studios legal compliance. When amending templates for your campaigns, all partners must abide by the

following guidelines. Any additional alterations to this creative will sit outside of legal compliance.

• Insert company name into the title “Celebrate Disney•Pixar’s Brave with ________.”

– Do not change the phrasing or sentence order

• Insert company logo into the space provided

• Insert company information into the designated text box

– Guidance on how to reference BRAVE on following pages

• Do not alter the artwork in terms of layout, spacing, dimensions or use any of the artwork assets / characters separately.

• Do not use Disney or Brave stylised fonts

• Do not suggest that your property, location or person inspired any element of BRAVE

kit.

The following text has been approved for partner use.

Ancient Scotland. Brave heroine Merida encounters a mysterious ring of stones on her quest to change her fate. Follow the trail below for

your own experience of these prehistoric stones, dwellings and other lasting marks on the landscape left by Scotland’s ancient inhabitants.

Castles & Royalty. Scotland’s turbulent history has left a lasting mark on the landscape in shape of the many castles, fortresses and tower

houses that pepper the countryside. These imposing structures all have the power to fire the imagination and there’s undoubtedly a little bit

of each of these in Brave’s Castle DunBroch.

Myths & Legends. Perhaps it’s something to do with our Celtic heritage or our dramatic and often dark history but more than most, Scotland

is a country steeped in myth and legend. Are you brave enough to explore the following trail of ghosts, monsters, wizards and mysterious

Clans & Culture. Highland clans and clan life are at the heart of Brave’s story. The spirit of the clan is still alive and strong across Scotland and

thanks to Scottish immigrants, hundreds of thousands of people around the world are also proud to proclaim their clan heritage and declare

Landscapes & Forests. Scotland’s spectacular scenery has inspired writers, painters and film makers for generations. Through a break in

trees, by turning a bend or simply by opening your curtains, you’ll discover a magical mix of mountains, lochs, forests and glens. Brave

captures this awesome landscape perfectly and you can experience it for yourself at the following locations...

Wildlife & Nature. Although wild bears no longer roam Scotland’s great outdoors as they do in Brave, you can still encounter an incredibly

diverse variety of wildlife species, from the dolphins and salmon to birds of prey and red deer. In fact, it’s the huge number of species found

in accessible locations that makes Scotland a paradise for wildlife-spotters and nature-lovers.

SYNOPSIS: The following synopsis has been approved for partner use. Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and the signature Pixar humor enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The film opens in Scotland from August 3rd, 2012, in Disney Digital 3D™ in select cinemas. Director Mark Andrews served as story supervisor for the Disney•Pixar films “Ratatouille” and “The Incredibles” and was Oscar®-nominated as the co-writer/co-director of the Pixar short “One Man Band.” He also contributed to the screenplay as co-screenwriter and served as second unit director for the 2012 Walt Disney Studios film “John Carter.” Director Brenda Chapman directed DreamWorks Animation’s “The Prince of Egypt” and was story supervisor for the Disney classic “The Lion King.” Producer Katherine Sarafian produced the Oscar®-nominated Pixar short film “Lifted” and served as production manager for “The Incredibles.” Two-time Emmy®-nominated actress Kelly Macdonald stars as Margaret Schroeder on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and as Ravenclaw’s ghost, The Grey Lady, in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.” Her film credits also include “No Country for Old Men,” “Gosford Park” and “Trainspotting.” Appearing in the movies “Men in Black 3” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” Emma Thompson is an Oscar®-winning actress (“Howards End”) and screenwriter (“Sense and Sensibility”) who most recently starred in, wrote and executive-produced “Nanny McPhee Returns.” Native Scot Billy Connolly is a comedian, musician and actor.
