LET ALL THE WORLD IN EVERY CORNER SING

CONFESSIONAlmighty God, our heavenly Father we have gone our own way, not loving you as we ought, nor loving our neighbour as ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed and in what we have failed to do.We deserve your condemnation. Father, forgive us.Help us to love you and our neighbour, and to live for your honour and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WELCOME David Crain

1. Let all the world in every corner singMy God and King! The heavens are not too high,His praise may thither fly;The earth is not too low,His praises there may grow.Let all the world in every corner sing:My God and King!

2. Let all the world in every corner sing:My God and King! The church with psalms must shout,No door can keep them out; But, above all, the heartMust bear the longest part.Let all the world in every corner sing:My God and King!

George Herbert (1593–1633)

HEARING GOD'S WORD

This is the word of the LordThanks be to God

35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came forward to Jesus and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” 36 And he said to them, “What is it you want me to do for you?” 37 And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” 38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” 39 They replied, “We are able.” Then Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink; and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; 40 but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.” 35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came forward to Jesus and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” 36 And he said to them, “What is it you want me to do for you?” 37 And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” 38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” 39 They replied, “We are able.” Then Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink; and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; 40 but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”41 When the ten heard this, they began to be angry with James and John. 42 So Jesus called them and said to them, “You know that among the Gentiles those whom they recognize as their rulers lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. 43 But it is not so among you; but whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wishes to be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

HERE IS LOVE VAST AS THE OCEAN

Paul said 5 Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited,7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form,8 he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross.9 Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father

1. Here is love, vast as the ocean,Loving kindness as the flood,When the Prince of Life, our Ransom,Shed for us His precious blood.Who His love will not remember?Who can cease to sing His praise? He can never be forgotten,Throughout Heav’n’s eternal days.

NICENE CREED

2. On the mount of crucifixion,Fountains opened deep and wide;Through the floodgates of God’s mercyFlowed a vast and gracious tide.Grace and love, like mighty rivers,Poured incessant from above,And Heav’n’s peace and perfect justiceKissed a guilty world in love.

3. Let me all Thy love accepting,Love Thee, ever all my days;Let me seek Thy kingdom onlyAnd my life be to Thy praise;Thou alone shalt be my glory,Nothing in the world I see.Thou hast cleansed and sanctified me,Thou Thyself hast set me free.

4. In Thy truth Thou dost direct meBy Thy Spirit through Thy Word; And Thy grace my need is meeting,As I trust in Thee, my Lord.Of Thy fullness Thou art pouringThy great love and power on me,Without measure, full and boundless,Drawing out my heart to Thee. William Rees & William Williams

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: he was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR OUR CHURCH, OUR CITY, AND THE WORLD June Buchanan

COMMUNIONPrayer of PreparationWe do not presume to come to your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your boundless goodness and mercy. We are not even worthy to eat the crumbs under your table, but you are the same Lord, always rich in mercy. Enable us by faith to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that we may be cleansed from sin and forever dwell in him, and he in us. Amen

THE LORD'S PRAYER

RESPONDING TO GOD'S WORLD

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Closing PrayerSalvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb. Praise and glory, wisdom and thanks, honour, power and strength, be to our God for ever and ever. Amen.

GOING OUT TO SERVE

BEAUTIFUL SAVIOUR

NOTICES

1. All my days I will sing this song of gladness, give my praise to the fountain of delights;for in my helplessness you heard my cry,and waves of mercy poured down on my life.

2. I will trust in the cross of my Redeemer,I will sing of the blood that never fails;of sins forgiven, of conscience cleansed,of death defeated and life without end.

Beautiful Saviour, wonderful counselor, clothed in majesty, Lord of history, you’re the way, the truth and life.Star of the morning, glorious in holiness, you’re the risen one, heaven’s champion, and you reign, you reign over all.

3. I long to be where the praise is never-ending,yearn to dwell where the glory never fades;where countless worshippers will share one song, and cries of ‘worthy’ will honour the Lamb! Chorus
