Holy Spirit. Amen. This is the most common of prayers
for Catholics. We sign ourselves every time we begin
prayers in the name of the Holy Trinity. As we celebrate
Trinity Sunday let us always do the sign of the Cross
slowly and with great reverence. Let's do everything in
the name of our Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. Amen. God Bless you!

God Is One but Not Solitary
AT THE END OF MATTHEW’S GOSSPEL, as Jesus prepares to ascend to heaven, He reveals the name of God to His Disciples…. [He] speaks it as something intimate, a family name: “the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Mt 28:19). God, then, is three; yet God is one. This is the mystery of the Trinity, “the central mystery of Christian faith and life… the mystery of God in Himself… the source of all the other mysteries of faith, the light that enlightens them” (CCC, no. 234). [Pope St. John Paul II] has stated: “God in His deepest mystery is not a solitude, but a family, since He has in Himself fatherhood, sonship, and the essence of the family, which is love.” God is not like a family. He is a family. From eternity, God alone possesses the essential attributes of a family, and the Trinity alone possesses them in their perfection. Of course, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not “gender” terms, but relational terms. The language of the divine family is theological, not biological. The terms, rather, describe the eternal relations of the divine Persons Who dwell in communion.

AL FINAL DEL EVANGELIO DE SAN MATEO, cuando Jesús se prepara para ascender al cielo, revela a Sus discípulos el nombre de Dios… Y lo hace de una forma íntima, un nombre familiar: “el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo” (Mt 28,19). Dios es, entonces, tres; mas Dios es uno. Este es el misterio de la Trinidad, “el misterio central de la fe y de la vida cristiana… el misterio de Dios en Sí mismo… la fuente de todos los otros misterios de la fe; es la luz que los ilumina” (CIC, no. 234). [El Papa San Juan Pablo II] ha dicho: “nuestro Dios en su misterio más intimo, no es una soledad, sino una familia, puesto que lleva en sí mismo paternidad, filiación y la esencia de la familia que es el amor”. Dios no se parece a una familia; es una familia. Desde la eternidad solo Dios posee los atributos esenciales de una familia, y solo la Trinidad los posee en su perfección. Por supuesto, los términos Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo nada tienen que ver con el “género”. Son términos relacionales. El lenguaje de la familia divina es teológico, no biológico. Getting to Know the Saints Conozcamos a los Santos
ST. JOHN BERCHMANS was born to a very religious family in Diest, Belgium, and started studies that would lead to the priesthood early in his life. He lived in the rectory of Notre Dame parish while he studied, but after three years his father told him he would have to leave school and learn a practical trade to help his family's poor finances. Canon Froymont of Malines offered to pay for his education in return for his service as a servant. In Malines, John Berchmans met the Jesuits and decided to join them rather than become a diocesan priest.
John entered the Jesuits in 1616, and after
pronouncing vows in 1618, was sent first to Antwerp and then to Rome to continue his studies. He excelled in his studies and at the end of his third year was selected to defend the entire course of philosophy in a public disputation. His health had suffered from the effort he had put into studying for his final exam, and he became steadily weaker as he prepared for this. John Berchmans became ill with dysentery; his lungs became inflamed and as he continued to grow weaker, he asked for his crucifix, rosary and rule book, and having received Viaticum, he died in the morning of August 13, 1621. He is the patron of altar servers.
SAN JUAN BERCHMANS nació en Diest, Bélgica, de una familia devota y comenzó sus estudios para el sacerdocio a temprana edad. Para ayudar a su familia en sus dificultades económicas, el Canónigo Froymont de Malinas ofreció pagar por su educación a cambio de que fuera su sirviente. The celebration of mercy takes place in a very
particular way in the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. Here we feel the embrace of the Father, who comes forth to meet us and grant us the grace of being once more his sons and daughters…. God makes us understand his great love for us precisely when we recognize that we are sinners. Grace is stronger than sin: it overcomes every possible form of resistance, because love conquers all (cf. 1 Cor 13:7).

La celebración de la misericordia tiene lugar de modo especial en el Sacramento de la Reconciliación. Fellow parishioner Taina Matos-Alayo recently took part in the 15 day Ignatian Camino from Loyola to Manresa, a 150 mile walk pilgrimage that combines physical and spiritual challenges to deepen our relationship with Jesus. Started by Jesuit Fr. José Luis Iriberri, in 2011, this particular pilgrimage was coordinated by the Campion Centre of Ignatian Spirituality in Australia. The historical context of the visits to the various cities, including Manresa and Barcelona, offers an understanding of Ignatius’s spiritual journey in writing the Spiritual Exercises. The Exam, a guide to personal reflection of one's daily life, helps to seek understanding and surrender to God's
Will. Taina tells us she offered up the physical toil as thanksgiving for all of the blessings Jesus has bestowed upon her family. If you are interested in walking the Ignatian Camino, please contact Taina or check out their website https://ignatiancamino.com/. The center coordinates two pilgrimages a year, a 30-day one in September and a 15-day one in May.
Nuestra parroquiana Taina Matos-Alayo tomó parte recientemente en el Camino Ignaciano de Loyola a Manresa, una peregrinación de 15 días y 150 millas de recorrido que combina retos físicos y espirituales para profundizar nuestra relación con Jesús. Iniciada por el P. José Luis Iriberri, S.J. en 2011, esta peregrinación tuvo la coordinación del Centro Campion de Espiritualidad Ignaciana en Australia. Monsignor Tony visited the 4th grade classroom on May 31st, the Feast
of the Visitation of the Angel Gabriel to Mary.
Monsignor Tony taught them about this miraculous day and blessed each
students' handmade rosary.
The children described this visit as “A moment with God”.
