The dilemma lies in the term TEAMBUILDING which has beenoveruse. During my many years working with various clients inrunning different types of teambuilding programs I observedthat it has been a sort of an event for people in theorganization to go out of town or go on a certain place toenjoy each other’s company by playing games, eating,drinking and picture taking together at the same time injectingsome learning and processing on certain activities and that’s it.Teambuilding has been served.
Do you think after this single teambuilding event the TEAMhas really been build or develop? Definitely NO! But I alsobelieve that these events are essential part and parcel ofTEAM DEVELOPMENT which are more likely to be called TEAMBonding Events rather than Teambuilding.
