Newsletter Triple C School Vol. 18. No.1, August 2014 Important Information for the New Year: SCHOOL UNIFORMS Uniform inspections will be done regularly. Boys and girls in Pre-School and Pre-K must wear red shorts and a Triple C T-shirt. Uniform shirts must be tucked in at all times, except girls’ tailored V-neck shirts. White or black socks above the ankle must be worn. Skid-free white or black whole shoes are required for the regular uniform, and skid-free sneakers (any color ) are required to be worn with the P.E. uniform. “Wheelies” are not allowed. Girls are allowed to wear one small pair of (identical) ear -rings in the lowest position of the ear lobes. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings. Boys and girls may wear limited arm, hand and neck jewelry. All jewelry must be small. Visible tattoos, body piercings, eyebrow or mustache patterns, and unnatural hair coloring are not allowed. Modest make-up is allowed for Grades 9-12 girls. Boys must be clean-shaven—Mustaches are allowed. Hair must be short— off the ears, off the collar and off the eyes. Our children should always present a clean, neat and attrac- tive appearance. This requires the concern of all—students, teachers, and parents—not only to have uniforms clean and pressed, but also to engender a spirit of pride (in the positive sense) in the student for his/her appearance. CANTEEN The canteen will continue to serve balanced, nutritious, hot meals daily, with the option of Pizza/Hot dogs on Friday. Lunch and snack costs are provided for you below: Snacks: .50c and $1.00 Sandwiches and Patties: $1.75 Small meal: $3.50 Mid size meal: $4.50 Large meal: $6.00 SCHOOL SUPPLIES Please make sure that your child has the necessary supplies for school. Mr. Spencer Darlington, Physical Education Teacher, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education & Sports. He has held positions as a part-time lecturer, radio and television sports report- er for the Commonwealth Games, and reporter for the CARIFTA and CONCACAF games. Mr. Darlington is from Jamaica. Mr. Alphanso Gayle, Military Science, Cadets, Mathematics & Computers Teacher, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Edu- cation. Mr. Gayle is from Jamaica and has15 years of teaching experience of which 8 years have been on Cayman Brac. Mrs. Charlotte Kelly, Head of the Science Department, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology & an Advanced Teacher Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in addition to a state license to teach. Mrs. Kelly is from Washing- ton, USA. She has 21 years of teaching experience and she is a former Triple C School teacher. Mrs. Kristina Lawrence, 5 th Grade Teacher, holds a Bachelor’s Degree & a Master’s Degree in Education. She has 19 years of teaching experience including Canada and Cayman Islands. Mrs. Lawrence is Caymanian and a former salutatorian of Triple C School. Ms. Juliet Lawson, Librarian, holds a Master’s Degree in Infor- mation and Library Management. Ms. Lawson is from Portland, Jamaica, and she has 12 years of experience. Mrs. Beverley Williams, 3 rd Grade Teacher, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Mrs. Williams is from Jamaica with 15 years of teaching experience. She is also a former Triple C School and the Cayman Islands Government teacher. OFFICE HOURS 7:30 A.M.—3:30 P.M. Bursar window closes at 3:00 p.m. Dear Parents and Guardians, It's another great day! I greet you with Jesus' joy! Allow me to extend a hearty welcome to our new and returning students. Our 2014-2015 school year has begun and the hallways 'are alive' with the sounds of students' laugh- ter. This is always a pleasant sound to hear. We had a great ending last school year. We graduated twenty seniors and nine of them have collectively received almost $1,000,000.00 in scholarship funds. Our three modular class- rooms are now open to accommodate our influx of stu- dents. We have employed nine new faculty members and we are ready for another great year. On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your partnership with Triple C School. Let's roll! A Triple C School Fundraiser

Student Registration Fee : $10 Adult Registration Fee : $20

FREE T-Shirt w/Registration—LIMITED AMOUNT

CLASS COMPETITION: A first place trophy and a special class prize will be given to the class that has he most students registered and walking on the event day. There will be a first place class trophy for High School and Elemen-tary. The trophy will be kept in the winning class’ Homeroom for the year and will be up for grabs next year. The winners will be announced on the day of the walk during assembly and presented their prize.

DEADLINE: All participating students need to be registered by Thursday, September 25th. Please register at the school office.

STUDENTS’ SPONSORSHIP COMPETITION : A prize will be given to the Elementary & Secondary student who raises $125 or more. The winners will be announced on the day of the walk during assembly and presented their prize.

DEADLINE: All sponsorship funds need to be submitted to the school office by Monday, September 22, 2014 to be entered into the competition.
