Does a normal Triple Screen

guarantee a healthy baby?

No. The Triple Screen cannot detect allbirth defects. It does not detect all neuraltube defects or all chromosomal abnormali-ties. It can only alert the physician that apregnancy is at an increased risk for certainproblems and that further specialized testingshould be considered. Reviewing the familymedical history with the physician can alsohelp identify problems that may be detectedby other specialized testing.
