PROTOTYPE

Page 4: TRIZ SLIDE TEAM KGL PART 2 (Loose Fruit Collector)

In palm oil plantation, the fruits often dropped and scattered on the floor when it is ripped.

Collecting scattered  fruits on the floor will take a lot of time since it is necessary to separate dirt, rocks and leaves from the fruits before being collected.

Use of heavy machinery would be a problem since the gap or space that allow it to move around is limited.

An existing portable fruit collector requires the fruits to be compressed and pressed before entered into the collection cavity.

This would actually damage the fruits quality.

INTRODUCTION

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Collecting using a flexible cage fruit collector would need the fruits to be pressed at a force before it will enter the collection “cavity” and this force will damage the fruits.

Page 6: TRIZ SLIDE TEAM KGL PART 2 (Loose Fruit Collector)

Reduce time required to sort what is needed (palm fruits) and what do not need it (dirts)

Avoid any unnecessary movement such as bending down or kneeling.

Avoid damaging the palm fruit which in turn will preserve the fruit quality.

BENEFITS OR IMPACT IF PROBLEM IS SOLVED

Page 7: TRIZ SLIDE TEAM KGL PART 2 (Loose Fruit Collector)

Fruits not to be destroyed or damage after being collected.

The cost for one unit must more than RM 100.

It must not take as many space as a heavy machinery and must have high mobility.

ENGINEERING CONTRADICTION

Parameter involved:Improving parameter: Object-affected harmful

factorsWorsening parameter: Productivity

IF THE ROLLER IS ROTATING ON THE GROUND, THEN THE ‘CAGE’ SEPARATE THE ROCKS AND FRUITS WHICH

PREVENT DIRT INGESTION TO THE FRUIT, BUT THE ‘CAGE’ ALSO DAMAGE FEW FRUITS DUE TO

“SQUEEZING” EFFECT.

Suggested Inventive Principles:

#22 Blessing in disguise#35 Parameter changes#13 The other way around#24 Intermediary

Based on the suggested Inventive Principles

provided, the potential solution is #24 Intermediary

which is merge an intermediary carrier to the

system.

CONTRADICTION MATRIX

Proposed Solution

• A cage as the entry way changed to a flat scoop or a slanted area

• The materials being dig will be filtered or sieve using the small opening at the cage.

Eliminated : Smaller items like rocks, sand or leaves Preserve : Palm fruits will remain in the

• Additional features: A one way door is being added to prevent palm fruits from falling out when the cage is being rotate.

• Eliminated “pressing” action on the fruits.• A bigger cavity which allow user to use to cover a bigger area

before need to stop and unload the collection.
