Letter from WRC - President

Dear WRC Members,

Happy New Year!! It’s hard to believe that it’s now 2014. I was just getting accustomed to writing “2013” on my checks and now I must start all over.

This is an extremely critical year for Republicans and most importantly, for our beloved country. Every member of the US House of Representatives and several key US Senate seats are up for re-election. If we hope to retain the House and regain seats in the Senate, the GOP must work together with conservatives, Republicans, libertarians and Tea Partiers. Yes, there are philosophical differences amongst these groups, but the commonalities of limited government, per-sonal responsibility, personal freedom and respect for the US Constitution should override any and all differences we may have with each other. If we do not unite and work together for this 2014 election cycle, we may as well start packing our suitcases and looking for another homeland as America as we know it will cease to exist.

I know that I’m repeating myself, but apathy and com-placency are our greatest enemies. Each of us MUST get in-volved; we cannot depend on someone else to do this job for us. The Democrats are already planning, plotting, recruiting, and conniving ways and means to defeat us in 2014 and 2016.

Women are the majority of voters and make the ma-jority of decisions relating to healthcare, education and family finances. Republican women, working together, can and will make the difference in the outcome of these elections. But YOU must get involved.

On January 9th at The von Liebig Art Center from 6:00-8:00pm, you have the opportunity to meet and speak with Sharon Day, Co-Chair of the RNC and the highest ranking Re-publican woman in the party, .in an informal setting. Bring your husband, your significant other, a neighbor, your sisters and your daughters. Reservations are required. For further information, see page 5. I hope to see each one of you there! Together, we can make a difference!!

“A is for Abigail”

The New Year approaches along with the perfect time to take stock of who we are.

Women are the majority of the US population. Women make the healthcare decisions for the family. Women make the educational decisions for the family. Women often manage the family economy.

Who better to take a leading role in the cause of good government? Republican Women Federated has an opportunity to involve more women in political action in 2014.

We can speak out against Obamacare and Common Core. We can address the democrat falsehood of the ‘war against women.’ We can speak to why it is not time for Hillary. Not her. Not now. Not ever.

A look at A is for Abigail: An Almanac of Amazing American Women, Lynne Cheney, author, provides more than ade-quate evidence of the quality and influence of women in society. Let’s start by making our families and our circle of friends aware of some of these women. Let’s borrow or buy a copy and read it with children.

BOOKENDS I look for the day…when the only criterion of excellence or position shall be the ability

and character of the individual; and this time will come” -Susan B. Anthony

Quality stands out. Leaders inspire. Determination and achievement are rewarded.

On December 10, 2013, the County Commissioners proclaimed

the week of January 5-11, 2014 to be designated

“Collier County Republican Women’s Week.”

Representatives from the various Republican Clubs in Collier County were present to accept the Proclamation.

Don’t forget…to bring the manufacturers’ coupon book-

lets that are found in the Sunday edition of the Naples Daily News

with you to our monthly meetings. Dodie Briskey will collect these

coupons and we will bring them to Lee Memorial Hospital where

volunteers sort and package the coupons for delivery to our mili-

tary personnel. These coupons can make a huge difference in the

purchasing power of our soldiers as they provide for their families

on their limited salaries. (Though they put their lives on the line to

protect and serve, they don’t receive $174,000, plus benefits like

Congressmen do). Thank you!
