WELCOME BACK TO ALL OF OUR STUDENTS

It was a pleasure to have all of our students back on site with us yesterday. Once again smiles all round with many students expressing how wonderful it was to be with friends and teachers. We enjoyed hearing from students the new hobbies they learnt from online sources such as sewing, cooking and yoga.

Settling into routine does take time. You may find that your child/children will be a more tired than usual. A regular bedtime, healthy foods and continued exercise will help with this.

SPECIAL MOTHER’S DAY GIFT

All students would have brought home a gift for their mum or special lady in their lives yesterday. This was just a little way to say thank you for your support during remote learning.

SCHOOL ENTRY AND EXITS

Thank you for your patience yesterday as this was the first time that our Years 3 to 6 had to exit the school and we were not sure how long it would take to stagger the exits. We are very fortunate to have 4 exit points to ease congestion and keep parents safe with physical distancing. This will be smoother as the term progresses.

Please make sure your child/children know which gate to exit and where you have arranged for them to meet you each day.

PARENT PARKING AND PICK UP – KEEP THE CHILDREN SAFE

Thank you to parents who are keeping all children safe at drop off and pick up times. Please note, that the City of Casey, together with our School Community, have a shared responsibility to maintain community safety.

With this shared commitment, Council has a responsibility to ensure there is compliance with the Victorian Road Safety Rules.

Road users have a responsibility to understand and comply with these road rules. On Tuesday 9th June 2020, Parking Compliance Officers will recommence active enforcement activity around schools, and infringements will be issued where offences are detected.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Ravenhurst Circuit – Do not park here and park on streets further away from school, such as Alisma Boulevard or Wheelers Park Drive and walk to the gates for Prep and Year Two Pick up.

Burford Way – Do not stop in the middle of the road to pick up or drop off your children. Do not try to park at the dead end section of the street. It is unsafe to do this. Park further away from the gate for a safe pick up.

Featherbrook Circuit – Parents have been illegally parking across residents driveways. We have received a number of complaints. Please park safely and responsibly.

2021 PREP ENROLMENTS We have 47 enrolments already for Prep next year. New operational guidelines from the Department of Education have directed us not to take Prep tours for the time-being. We have continued to organise our Prep Transition sessions for Term 4 at this stage. As directions change we will keep parents updated. If you have a child starting Prep in 2021, we have Prep Enrolment Packs ready. You can contact our office to have information emailed to you. Our new zone is below and parents can check to see if they are in our zone by accessing www.findmyschool.com

Have a lovely week,

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

It was lovely to see all students back at school yesterday. The smiling faces that came through the gates in the morning were wonderful to see. I am sure there were a lot of smiling parents as well!!

We look forward to getting all children back into a school routine over the next two to three weeks and teachers have assessments ready to be conducted from Week 10 to see how well students adapted to Remote Learning and to determine their new levels.

SCHOOL CAMPS AND SWIMMING PROGRAM

Thank you to the parents who have filled in the survey that was sent home yesterday in regard to school camps and our swimming program. At present we are determining whether these programs will proceed due to Covid-19.

When making the decision we will be taking into account the survey results and the information we receive from the Education Department and Health Minister in regard to camps and swimming.

The survey is located on your child’s profile page on COMAPSS. There are only three questions to respond to, so if possible could all parents please complete the survey by Friday June 12th.

SCHOOL PHOTOS

School photos were initially changed to July 17th which is the first Friday back in Term Three, however we have made the decision to push back the date to later in the year. The date has now been confirmed for Friday the 30th of October.

BOOK CLUB

Just a reminder that all orders for Book Club for the fourth edition need to be submitted by this Friday June 12th.

Have a good week,

Lynne McDonald

SCHOOL NEWS

YEAR ONE

In Year 1, we have been learning about man made and natural environments. Poppy and Keely from 1H have drawn a picture from 2 different windows from Jeanie Baker’s ‘Window’. These pictures show change over a period of time as a city develops around a child’s house.

PREP Well done to all the Preps on another great week at school. The teachers are pleased to see lots of great work being completed by our wonderful Preps!

YEAR THREE

Welcome back everyone! We are so excited to have you all back and to be able to see you all in person. You have all done such an amazing job over the last eight weeks and we know you’ll quickly adjust back to our routines in no time. We have loved seeing the work you have been completing at home and below are a few more final pieces from our Remote Learning journey. Thank you again to all our parents, grandparents and brothers and sisters for your help and support throughout this journey. You should all be very proud of your children, they are amazing!

YEAR TWO

Can you believe it! Week 9 already, we have enjoyed being back together with our Tulliallan family. This week we have had the pleasure of hearing about the wonderful work the Year Two’s did during the Remote Learning period, through their recount writing in the ‘Tulliallan Times’ newspaper. Here is some fantastic work from some of our little journalists.

We hope our wonderful Mums enjoyed their little bag of treats this week!

Keep up the great work Year Two.

SPECIALISTS

ART

-ARTIST OF THE WEEK-

Well done to one of our new students, Mannat, on her wonderful leaf peacock. The students for their last week of remote learning were challenged to create an animal using leaves. We had lots of very creative artworks submitted. Amazing work!

MUSIC

It was great to have the Prep - Two’s back in the Music room this week! Prep students discussed what they learnt whilst working from home and we revised the letters of the music alphabet. Year One to Two students started

practising the ukulele. Year Three to Six students continued their work on the keyboard from home, and we look forward to playing them now that they are back at school.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

We have loved having the Prep - 2 students back in Physical Education this week. We spent the week remembering the expectations in PE with the whistle, sharing equipment and cooperating with each other. We also revised the

skill of an Overarm Throw. The 3 - 6 students continued their work at home and practised a different skill each day, exercised with ‘PE with Joe’ and they also completed a feedback survey about their Physical Education remote

learning experience. We have loved reading the feedback, especially those who thoroughly enjoyed specific tasks throughout remote learning (the obstacle course and juggling seemed to be a big hit!). We are looking forward to

having the Years 3-6 students back in Physical Education.

STEM

We are very excited to welcome everyone back this week and show them our new STEM area in the Mod 10 building! This week all year levels have been introduced to virtual reality in order to learn how to apply this technology to their learning. In addition, the Year 3-6’s have continued using Google Classroom in their personal STEM classroom, feel free to have a look at the exciting projects they will be doing.

CAPTAIN’S CORNER

Welcome to this week’s edition of Tulliallan Captain’s Corner! This week, we have Zahra and Harrish, our Elder House Captains sharing with you their response to a few questions that were put to them.

Zahra J – Elder House Captain

How have you been coping with online school and are there any tips you could share with others?

Online learning was quite challenging at first and I’m sure it might not have been the easiest for everyone, but after a few weeks I got more used to things and it felt much better. Some tips that I would share:

- Not to rush through your work

- Remember to have breaks

- Be organized

Good luck and have fun while you’re doing your work.

What interests and hobbies do you have?

I love soccer!

If you had to choose a food item to represent who you are, what would you be?

I’d choose a mushroom, because I’m pretty short!

Harrish M – Elder House Captain

How have you been coping with online school and are there any tips you could share with others?

Online school is different, but when you adapt to the changes it just seems like a normal day at school and the teachers are always online helping us out. Something that I did was to make a timetable and schedule in breaks between my lessons.

What interests and hobbies do you have?

I enjoy sports such as soccer…and I also love Maths!

If you had to choose a food item to represent who you are, what would you be?

I’d choose a nugget, because I am really short!
