Emin Alper was born in 1974 in Ermenek, Karaman.

Trained in economics and history at Bogazici Universi-

ty-Istanbul, Alper holds a PhD in Turkish Modern History.

His first feature, BEYOND THE HILL (2012), received

numerous awards including the Caligari Film Prize at

Berlinale Forum and Best Film at Asia Pacific Awards.

His second feature FRENZY (2015) premiered at 72nd

Venice Film Festival’s in Official Selection’s competition

and received Jury Special Prize. Aside from his filmmak-

ing career, Emin Alper teaches modern history in the

Humanities and Social Sciences Department at Istanbul

Technical University.

Ömür Atay began his cinema education at the Faculty

of Fine Arts of 9 Eylül University and completed it at the

Film Direction Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of

Marmara University in Istanbul. He directed several short

films while still a student at film school. “Necropolis”, a

film he directed in 1998, won the first prize at Ifsak Short

Film Competition. His short films have been screened

at numerous national and international film festivals. In

2006, he directed the “Little Red Riding Hood” segment

of “Anlat Istanbul / Istanbul Tales”, a feature-length film

comprised of five intertwined tales.

Murat Şeker, He was born on June 25, 1973 in Istanbul. He graduated from Mimar Sinan University Cinema-Television Department. In 1996, he made his first short film. Later, he made video clip works for Turkish rock and pop music. He began to produce electronic and alternative music reviews in newspapers such as Milliyet, Radikal, Hurriyet Daily News, Max and Roll. Our jackals go on separate ways for the first time in their lives because they were released by the court on the condition that they stay away at least 100 meters from each other. Leyla, a 17 year old young girl who is the fruit of Gökhan’s one night stand from years ago, pops up. As Gökhan tries to get used to this, he gets another shock. Leyla has a rich, snob boy friend named Sinan, who has some bad intentions.

Gökhan has no other choice than make his daughter break up with that boy. Our crew breaks the ban and comes together again to break up Leyla, from her boyfriend Sinan. And so they set sail into a fun, action and laughter laden adventure.

Deniz is set to marry Nurperi because of his fathers’ pressures. Before the marriage ceremony the couple decides to attend Otilia concert which leads them to Burgaz island in Nurperi’s fancy yacht. While scuba diving Deniz meets Gunes. Thinking Gunes is hearing-impaired, Deniz decides to learn sign language to communicate with her. When the young man starts to communicate through sign language Gunes assumes Deniz is hearing impaired. They are enamoured with each other in short time. In spite of his father, Nurperi and Doruk who is the platonic admirer of Gunes, Deniz decides to follow his heart.

Baris Denge was born in 1975. He graduated from Bilgi

University Department of Motion Pictures and Television.

He got his masters degree from the same university from

the Visual Communication Design. Between 2002 – 2014,

he worked as Director, Editor, Post Production Executive

and an Assistant Director of Sinan Cetin. He now

independently carries on projects as Director.

Kerem, son of an elite Istanbul family and an architect in high demand, is married to Yeşim. Their biggest disappointment is not to be able to have a baby. Kerem realizes Yesim’s hopes are shattered and that she needs moral support. He offers to go to their summer house to take the edge off. They hit the road with Kerem driving. All of a sudden, a child jumps in front of the speeding car. Kerem gets heavily injured. Yeşim and the child die at the scene of the accident. Kerem holds himself responsible for their deaths and can’t overcome feelings of pain and guilt.

A period of great success followed with popular TV series Çemberimde Gül Oya, and hit films Everything (2004) and My Father and My Son (2005), which according to Rekin Teksoy” successfully exploited the melodramatic idiom and was a huge box-office success,” which, “showed that popular cinema was successful in appealing to wide audiences” as well as receiving six Turkish Cinema Writers Association Awards including Best Director.

Can Evrenol, born in Istanbul in 1982, Can Evrenol later

studied Art History & Film Studies at The University of

Kent at Canterbury.While working as a TVC director in

Istanbul since 2010, Evrenol, independently co-wrote,

directed and co-produced 2 feature films; Baskin (2015)

and Housewife (2017). Both films are heavily influenced

by Italian horror cinema of the 70\’s and early 80\’s,

and share similar dream-like structure and themes of

cult, ritual, family, childhood and parent horror. He also

Serkan Acar: he studied Psychology at Istanbul

University. Since 1996, he has been working with

prominent names of cinema world such as Yusuf Kurçenli,

Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Ünal Küpeli, Feyzi Tuna, Kadir Sözen,

Aydın Sayman, Hüseyin Kuzu as director, scriptwriter and

producer. He administrated at Sine-Sen (Union of Cinema

Workers) for a while. He is the producer of Sonbahar

Serdar Yıldırım, who served as the captain in special forces, loses 16 fellow soldiers as a result of a malicious ambush. He was dismissed because of internal traitors, on the grounds that he disobeyed the order after the operation by turning off the radios in order not to get the return order. The President, aware of the games being played on his country, inside and outside, says that it is time to stop these events and that action must be taken as soon as possible.

The film tells the story of four former soldiers and their extraordinary one-night journey. Lieutenant Şinasi, Commander Kemal, Commander Rıfat and Colonel Reha plan to announce a manifesto of the military coup on Istanbul Radio which will commence in Ankara on the same night. They are certain that a strong and an efficient manifesto leads to a successful coup and public support. However, nothing goes as they planned. These four soldiers who believe in that everything can be managed by planning and a military force also believe that they can decide on behalf of others. However, what lets them down is the invisible power of civilian life.

One day, Sami learns that his grandmother left him a small chest full of calligraphy materials. Then he meets Selma at the library where he has been commissioned to do a mural, and the introduction marks a turning point for him. For Sami, who finds himself caught between Selma and Eşref, the practice of calligraphy becomes a challenging journey in which he is forced to confront his memory.

cinema on the occasion of a director. He took script

Academy\’s cinema classes. In addition to his first film,

Pigeon Thieves, he is writing a series of absurd comedy-

style serial film.16 year-old Mahmut’s life consists of feeding pigeons and making money from stealing others’ pigeons. His biggest dream is to have the best pigeons. One day, one of his pigeons escapes and does not return. When Mahmut finds a pigeon nesting on a roof, he meets Ismail, an 8-year-old living in that house. This meeting becomes one of the most important turning point that will affect both lives. Mahmut decides to steal the pigeons to help Ismail achieve his dream.

M. Çağatay Tosun was born in 1978 in İzmir. He

graduated from İstanbul University, Department of

Radio TV and Cinema and Television of Faculty of

Communication. He has started directing in 2005,

since then he directed many tv films and tv series. In

2011 he founded Yedi Film. He wrote, directed and also

One day his mother comes to Germany to be treated. Umut has to take care of her for three days. Besides, he also learns that his lover is pregnant. Ziya Demirel: (Adana, 1988). Started theatre at high

school and continued at university. While studying

industrial engineering in Galatasaray Univ. he directed his

first short film. He continued his studies for film-directing

his well-received short film Evicko. The last short film

he directed, SALI [Tuesday], premiered in the Official

Selection of Cannes FF in 2015, and was selected in

festivals such as Toronto, Sarajevo, Sundance, Rotterdam

etc. SALI was awarded as ‘Best Short Film’ in festivals

such as Les Arcs, Istanbul, Grenoble and with Special Jury

Guzel is an unmarried woman, who takes care of her two brothers and one sister after their parents pass away. The family’s principal source of living, their one and only cow crosses River Arpacay one day and breaks into the lands of Armenia. Guzel leaves no stone unturned and starts searching for the ways of going to this country which Turkey has no diplomatic relations and there is no border gates in between since 1993, as she gives up bureaucratic solutions as well.

Yunus Ozan Korkut: He has been working since 2008 in

this industry and he directed one feature film and 6 short

films since then. He was awarded by Mexican, Crotia and

Italian film festivals. His debut feature film “My Suburban

Stories” was premiered in Turkey in September 2017 and

had widespread media coverage in glowing terms.

He wants to build up his career especially directing inde-

Sinan Yabgu Ünal: Born in Istanbul in 1988. Currently

works as film designer and producer, commercial film

director and street photographer. He has taken part in

various commercial and promotional film projects as pro-

duction assistant, production manager and line producer

from 2010 on. In 2015, he co-founded RTNT Film and

produced Öğretmen (short), Kurban (short), Sessiz Ortak

(short), and Emin Fırat Övür’s Anadolu Masalları (feature

docudrama). In 2016 and early 2017 he executed the pro-

duction of E. Fırat Övür’s Teneffüs (short) and Ümit Ünal’s

Eylul University, Department of Economics. He studied

film directing in Prag Film School. He traveled all around

the world for making many documentaries.

Zerre (TheParticle), his debut film that is written and di-

rected by him, won almost 23 awards including Best Film

Golden St. George at the 35th Moscow International Film

Festival and was screened in 30 countries. The director

received many praises from cinema critics on his social

realist cinema approach.

Gölgeler Içinde (In the Shadows) is his second feature

After 10 years Asım and his team are still in the underground business. Asım’s daughter Nazlı who doesn’t like to see him much gets scammed on her wedding day. What would happen if the king of scammers daughter gets scammed? One of the biggest budgeted and most anticipated film of the year.

Yilmaz Erdoğan spent his child hood in Ankara until he moved to Istanbul along with his family. His family is of Kurdishorigin. In 1987, he dropped out of his civil engineering studies at Istanbul Technical University and joined the On Duty Theater Staff (Turkish: Nöbetçi Tiyatrosu) managed by Ferhan Şensoy. He also became chief screenwriter at Levent Kırca’s long-running televi-sion sketch show, Olacak O Kadar. In 1988, he founded his own theatre company, Güldüşündürü, and staged a successful production of his self-penned Suleiman the Magnificent and Rambo (Turkish: Kanuni Sultan Süley-man ve Rambo). Nihat Durak was the assistant director of the 6-hours-

long TV movie called “Kurtuluş” in 1996, arguably the big-

gest production of its era. In the same year, he adapted

famous novel “Yaban” for the screen as a director. In 1997,

Two widow women in Middle Anatolia are struggling for life with their two children. The big holes that suddenly appear in their region become a big problem for them. To protect her crops, the woman starts a fight against a bear which attacks her field. Another problem is a greedy farmer who needs the woman’s field in order to enlarge his own. A bond is established between the woman and the bear when the bear falls down into a huge sinkhole. The growing number of holes is the precursor of another disaster in the region. They will either abandon the region or fall into a sinkhole. And what will happen to the mother bear?

Lali is a Georgian caregiver living in Turkey. When she was about to go see her sick daughter staying in her country, she needs money for her daughter’s broken walker. She starts to work as a caregiver for the old, cancer patient Rıza, who has only two months left. Rıza wants to meet his death in his homeland, Muratlı village in Artvin. In this village which they go together, they question their lives and how to become a family.

Serpil Altın: She was born in 1979 in Eskişehir and was

graduated from Anadolu University, Department of

Cinema-TV in 2002. After graduation, she worked as

assistant director and producer in cinema and TV. In 2014,

her short film “The Holiday Gift”, which was supported by

Turkish Ministry of Culture, participated in many national

and international film festivals. She founded Serpil Altin

Film in 2016 and produced “Abductor” and “Funeral

Works” feature films. In 2017 she won awards with her

new short film “Learning How To Swim.”

A short while after his dominant wife abandons the wimpy and meek Hayati, who is a literary teacher in a patriarchal town, the police find an unrecognized female corpse by the lake. Hayati wants to state that the body belongs to his wife and to take the blame for the murder that someone else committed.

Faysal Soysal was born in Batman in 1979. He left medical

school to focus on poetry and cinema in 2000. Between

2003 and 2007, he finished his Masters Degrees on

“Film Directing” in Tehran Art University-Iran and at the

same time “New Turkish Literature” at Van Yuzuncuyil

University-Turkey. He did 4 short films in Iran, which were

awarded at international film festivals. With his 35mm

short film ‘Dreams of Lost Time, he’s become closer to

find his own cinematographic expression and language.

Zuhal’s workaholic daily routine is disturbed by a cat’s meow she keeps hearing in her flat. In order to find the cat she starts an investigation in the building, but soon she realizes that no-one else seems to hear this sound. As well as being the public broadcaster of Turkey, TRT is also preparing to become an eicient joint producer for national and international film industry. “Cold of Calandar” is one of the TRT’s co-productions. It was directed by Mustafa Kara and made its world premiere in Tokyo; it won many awards at national and international festivals and most recently nominated to become a candidate of Turkey for Oscar Award at 89th Academy Awards. Emre Konuk’s first feature film, “The Apprentice” which won “Best Film” award at 23rd International Oldenburg Film Festival, one of Germany’s oldest film festivals, and made its European debut as the opening film in Sarajevo Film Festival is another co-production of TRT. TRT started a strong cooperation with Sarajevo Film Festival this year and gave year’s premier award which is worth 30.000 EUR to Georgian director Rezo Gigineishli’s film “The Hostages” as a production support in the CineLink Work-in-Progress section of the Festival. TRT has announced that starting from 2017, it would become an institutional partner of Sarajevo Film Festival. SCF GS is promoting the growing connection between TV and feature film markets both artistically and in terms of production. Within the scope of SCF GS Slovenian director Martin Turk’s project titled “A “Good Days Work” will be fully financed with the amount of 235.000 EUR. Latest co-production of TRT at festivals is 2010 Golden Bear Winner Honey director Semih Kaplanoğlu’s long awaited new film “Grain”. It is having World Premiere at 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival International Competition and won the Tokyo International Film Festival’s grand prix. TRT was also given project development support of TRY 50.000 to director Cem Özay’s project titled Forgiveness at Antalya Film Forum of Antalya Film Festival.
