DESCRIPTIVE

Use your senses to describe the people and places youare writing about. What do you see, hear, smell taste andfeel.

• Create a picture for readers through description so theycan step into your story and be a part of it.

• This type of writing is frequently used and may be foundin books as well as magazines and newspaper articles.

• My first experience with a carnival ride was aFerris wheel at a local fair. Looking at thatlooming monstrosity spinning the life out of itssardine-caged occupants, I was dumbstruck. It was huge, smoky, noisy and not a littleintimidating. Ever since that initial impressionbecame fossilized in my imagination manyyears ago, these rides have reminded me ofmythical beasts, amazing dinosaurs carryingoff their screaming passengers like sacrificial

virgins … ..

• One of the most important periods in an individual’slife is, without doubt, their school years. School is a

place were children and teenagers socialize, obtaindifferent social skills, and prepare themselves for theirfuture life and career. School is also the time ofturbulent psychological processes which are typicalfor the teen years; teenagers are especially vulnerablein terms of influence — both positive and negative — ontheir psyche.

NARRATIVE

• This is the kind of writing where you get to tell a story.• Personal Narrative- story about themselves .• A story will use literary elements like characters, a

• Though traveling is not a big deal today, andlots of my peers rolled over the whole US oreven abroad, before my trip I used to be ahomebody. I had friends to hang out with, several hobbies, and I felt completelycomfortable about spending weeks or even

months in my hometown — or sometimes evenon my block — without going anywhere.

• Nature is about balance and harmony – whatwe lack when we live inside the swirling pit ofurbanized cities. Sometimes we escape, but sorarely and so abruptly, that such escapades canhardly help us re-establish our link with nature.Individuals who live in city areas shouldconsider changing their routine and getting outinto nature more regularly.

ARGUMENTATION

• we not only give information but also present an

argument with the PROS (supporting ideas) and CONS(opposing ideas) of an argumentative issue.

• We should clearly take our stand and write as if we aretrying to persuade an opposing audience to adopt new

beliefs or behavior.• The primary objective is to persuade people to change

beliefs that many of them do not want to change.

• Mass media claims to provide a diversity of differentthoughts including political, religious, economic andother ones without thrusting the opinion of theaudience. Do journalists, news producers and all the

mass media representatives choose themselves theevent they will report and the material they willcover? The reality says that the ―liberal bias of themass media is nothing more than a myth. The nation

sees and hears only what the mass media owners wantit to perceive.
