Fortitude

Sunday, 29 March 2015

A flashback to the night Pettigrew died reveals he was fighting with Eric Odegard (Björn Hlynur Haraldsson). Yuri (Emil Hostina) awakes from a drunken stupor to find the GPR scan Pettigrew was waving around, and discovers his handcuffs are missing.

Elena (Verónica Echegui) tells Dan (Richard Dormer) about Morton (Stanley Tucci) seeing new floorboards, but Dan says Morton can't prove anything.

As Trisha Stoddart leaves Fortitude, Odegard (Sofie Grabol) confesses she wiped Charlie's last message to his wife. Trisha reveals she's been sleeping with Odegard's husband Eric.

Meanwhile, a frightened Carrie Morgan (Elizabeth Dormer-Phillips) tries to call Fortitude police for help. She and her father are about to escape to the Norwegian mainland on a boat, paid for with the mammoth tusks, when the pilot pulls a gun and absconds with the tusks.

Henry develops the photograph he took on the beach the morning Pettigrew died, and to his horror it reveals Pettigrew's severed arm handcuffed to a metal structure. As Morton demands Yuri give back the scan, Yuri reveals it's Eric who killed Pettigrew and he has the bullet as evidence.

As Frank (Nicholas Pinnock) confronts Elena, and Dan comes to her aid, Frank attacks him. Meanwhile Odegard confronts her husband about his infidelity.

Meanwhile, creepy Markus tries to feed his sick girlfriend Shirley through a tube. As her mother tries to tell her she really does care for her, Shirley awakes from a stupor and attacks her in a horrifying manner.

Making Australia Great: Inside Our Longest BoomEpisode 3: Australia's Second Chance

Tuesday, 31 March 2015 FinalWe have enjoyed the longest economic winning streak in world history, and were the only rich nation to avoid the great global crash of 2008.

This three-part series asks the important questions of our time:

How did we become the last rich nation standing? Can we make something of this moment, or has it already passed? What must we do to overcome the inevitable future shocks?

Author, journalist and Canberra insider George Megalogenis takes us on a unique TV journey to find out.

On his investigation of our past, present and future, George enlists the support of every former Australian Prime Minister and Treasurer from 2013 back to the 1970s, as well as a host of significant contributors and eyewitnesses to Australia's success story.

Together they help George deliver the definitive history of modern Australia. Their surprising comments provide wide-ranging insights on the economy, society, culture and leadership.

George discovers a dramatic and counter-intuitive story and a compelling case that our economic strengths are way more interesting and complex than simply dumb luck or Australia being a mineral rich continent on China's doorstep.

We made our own luck through decades of far-sighted and challenging economic and cultural reforms, and learning from the painful mistakes we made along the way.

Never before have so many of Australia's political, economic and cultural leaders been interviewed in such depth to tell a singular story and to share the screen as equals.

Stop Laughing... this is seriousEpisode 2: Faark Faark

Wednesday, 1 April 2015

The second episode is called "FAARK, FAARK" and it looks upwards at the comedy of rebellion and anti-authority. Its title comes from one of the greatest rebels in Australian comedy - Graham Kennedy - who as the irrepressible host of In Melbourne Tonight in the 1950s invented a 'crow call' to allow him to say a word deemed far too rude for television.

Much of our comedy has celebrated the rebels and rogues and laughed along with the larrikins. From Graham Kennedy breaking all the rules of television to Norman Gunston appearing on the steps of Parliament House during Gough Whitlam's dismissal to the invention of Les Patterson and the remarkable story of Rodney Rude as a champion of freedom of speech, we love the little guy punching upwards - taking on the authorities and making us laugh.

We look at the comedy of the underdog, including Basically Black the first indigenous TV comedy with the heroic character Super Boong tackling racism wherever he finds it. We look at the fertile comedy breeding grounds of the university revues and how they spawned many of our favourite comedy shows like The Aunty Jack Show, The D Generation, Big Girl's Blouse, The Late Show, Fast Forward and Full Frontal. We see how anarchic live acts Los Trios Ringbarkus and the Doug Anthony All Stars raise the stakes by involving the audience in their electric live shows and creating an air of unpredictability.

We explore the rise of political satire with Australia You're Standing In It and The Gillies Report and its continued popularity with Shaun Micallef's Mad As Hell. Tim Minchin explains the need for satire to mock the powerful and question the status quo, before Barry Humphries reminds us that comedians can set out to change the world, but must never expect to actually do so!

Outback ER

Thursday, 2 April 2015 FinalIn the final episode of Outback ER, Doug falls off his roof and shatters his leg, but complications with internal bleeding require emergency surgery. Housebound Margaret is cut from her home in a bizarre rescue, and a late night feast sees Geoffrey with serious burns.

Paramedics rush Doug to hospital after he fell from the roof of his house while repairing his TV antenna. Doctors are concerned he has leg and spinal injuries. X-rays confirm his leg is shattered so badly that he'll a need transfer to Adelaide. Of bigger concern though is the internal bleeding, which needs immediate surgery.

Housebound Margaret fell awkwardly out of bed, pinning her leg underneath her. She's not found until the following day and by that stage her leg is blue from lack of circulation. Paramedics need to cut a hole in the bedroom wall to shift her out and rush her to Emergency.

Colin has lived a tough life working in Broken Hill's mines. He's now 87 years old and his wife of 67 years comes to terms with his ailing health.

For 28-year-old Geoffrey, a few too many drinks have resulted in a trip to Emergency. While frying up chips at 4am, he forgot about the pan and it caught fire. He suffered serious burns to his arms and hands when he grabbed the pan and threw it outside, splashing burning oil over himself.

The Cyberbully

Thursday, 2 April 2015

Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) is 17-year-old Casey, a teenager who learns the hard way about the consequences of cyber bullying.

As usual Casey gets home from school and logs on to Facebook, iTunes and Skype. But while skyping her best friend Megan, her ex-boyfriend Nathan bags her on Twitter. Megan suggests she use their hacker friend Alex, but he's scared he'll be caught.

When Megan leaves to meet her boyfriend, Casey is alone, and Alex contacts her again and agrees to hack Nathan. But she soon realises it isn't Alex. It appears her webcam has been hacked and the hacker can see her!

The cyber stalker, who now has access to her personal files, including explicit sexting images taken for her boyfriend, warns that if she tries to switch off the computer, or get help, he will post the images to everyone to see!

But as she continues talking to the unseen perpetrator, her initial fears of sexual exploitation give way to something more bizarre: the stalker forces her to look back over her own cyber history. Together they trawl her digital footprint: every bitchy comment, every two-faced remark, revealing Casey as something of a cyber bully herself.

Eventually she realises she hasn't been chosen at random; it's because she once played a small but influential part in a long running cyber-bullying campaign against a girl which spiralled out of control and drove her to take her own life.

The cyber stalker is after vengeance. Can Casey outwit her tormentor and reveal their identity?
