WE EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO ALL VISITORS AND NEWCOMERS You may find the following information useful as you worship with us:

NEED TO SIT DURING WORSHIP? There are often long periods when we stand

during worship, please feel free to sit down at any time.

HEADSETS are available to assist in hearing during worship. Contact the wardens

or sidespersons if you wish to use them.

PRAYER BOWL – If there is someone for whom you wish silent prayers, you are

invited to write their name on one of the slips of paper provided and place it in the

prayer bowl at the back of the church (on the sound equipment cabinet)

COMMUNION – All are welcome to receive communion. Due to health concerns,

the dipping of the wafer or bread into the wine (intinction) is no longer permitted. If

you choose not to receive the wine, touching the base of the cup and saying “Amen”

is sufficient.

PRAYERS FOR HEALING – Anything which troubles us, physically, mentally, or

emotionally, is reason to ask God for healing. You may also wish to ask for healing

for someone else. During Communion, prayer teams are available on either side of

the altar rail. If you desire prayer and anointing, please go to one of the stations after

receiving Communion.

WE ARE A NUT FREE, SCENT FREE ENVIRONMENT – Many people, especially

children are struggling with allergies to nut products with potentially deadly

consequences. Many people also have sensitivities to some scents. We have asked

parishioners to be aware of this, to refrain from bringing nut products to Church,

and from wearing highly scented products.

Following worship you are cordially invited to meet in the parish hall for a time

of conversation, fellowship and refreshments.

St. Peter’s is committed to Creation care: Please recycle this bulletin

THE GATHERING OF THE COMMUNITY

Prelude: Metamorphosis I Philip Glass

Acknowledgement of the Land: We acknowledge that we meet and work in Treaty 1 land, the

traditional land of the Anishinaabe, Cree and Dakota Peoples and the homeland of the Metis Nation.

We are grateful for their stewardship of this land and their hospitality which allows us to live, work

and serve God the Creator here.

Opening Hymn: #347 The God of Abraham Praise LEONI

The Greeting

Presider: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the

fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

All: And also with you.

Officiant: Almighty God

All: to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are

hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy

Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy

name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Gloria (#366 Common Praise)

All: Glory, in the highest glory, peace to all in all their days.

Worship, thanks and praise unceasing to the Source of all we raise:

reigning in the sapphire height, hidden from our mortal sight,

now receive our adoration, as we make our supplication.

Jesus Christ, the world’s Redeemer, Lamb of God, for sinners given,

Word eternal, born of Mary, Word made flesh, the face of heaven:

holy one, to you we pray, hear us in the realms of day,

with the Spirit there united, and the God-head high exalted.

Collect of the Day

Officiant: Let us pray

(silence)

All: God of the teasing riddle, whose questions undo our certainty and set us

on a different path: give us a heart of passion, a searching mind, gentle

strength of body and unseen depths of soul, that we might love you wholly

Amen.

Sermon

(pause for silent reflection)

The Apostles’ Creed

Officiant: Let us confess the faith of our baptism, as we say

All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I

believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the

power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under

Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the

dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is

seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the

living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church

the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the

body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the People

Confession and Absolution

Officiant: Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; God

welcomes sinners and invites us to this table. Let us confess our sins,

confident in God’s forgiveness.

(pause for silent reflection)

Officiant: Most merciful God,

All: we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by

what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved

you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.

We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus

Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will,

and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Presider: Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your

sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

THE CELEBRATION OF THE EUCHARIST

and offer them to God.

sing the offertory hymn #528

Offertory Hymn: #528 O God, Our Help in Ages Past ST. ANNE

Officiant: Let us with joy present these offerings which represent our labour and our

lives.

Prayer over the Gifts

Presider: Let us pray.

All: God of constant love, you have guided your people in all times and ages.

May we who offer you our praise today always be ready to follow where

you lead; we ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Eucharistic Prayer #1 B.A.S. 193

Presider: The Lord be with you

All: And also with you.

Presider: Lift up your hearts.

All: We lift them to the Lord.

Presider: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Presider: It is indeed right that we should praise you, ……. to proclaim the glory of

your name.

All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might.

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna, in the highest, hosanna, in the highest.

Presider: Holy God, source of life and goodness ,……...

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith.

All: Christ has died.

Christ is risen.

Christ will come again.

Presider: Recalling his death...... Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts,

(sounding bowl)

that all who eat and drink at this table may be one body and one holy people,

a living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our Lord............ now and for ever.

All: Amen

Presider: As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,

All sing: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your

will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from

the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and

the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Music by David Haas © GIA Publications, Inc. OneLicense.net #A-719294

Gift Card Monthly Fundraiser See Betty Currie after worship if you wish to purchase gift

cards for the coming month. By purchasing gift cards through St. Peter’s you are able to

access a wide array of retail categories while supporting the mission and ministry of the

parish. Cards are ordered on the last Sunday of each month, so see Betty today. St. Peter's

neither endorses nor recommends any of the retailers/establishments in this program. We

encourage you to be informed about the retailers you support.

REMEMBRANCE - Jazz Vespers is back! Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 19, 7:30

pm. The Bob Watts Trio, plus one, will be here to stir our hearts and spirits with great

sacred jazz music. The ‘plus one’ is a vocalist who will add to the beauty of the

evening. Check out the poster on your way to the parish hall. In keeping with the theme

of the evening, net proceeds will be donated to the P.T.S.D. Association of Canada.

Bible and Breakfast Saturday December 2, 2017 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Scriptures are

God’s word and disclose his ways and promises to us. The purpose of Bible and Breakfast

is to help us get (re-)acquainted with the Bible and to trust its message. Please join us. The

cost is $12.00. To register please contact Shelagh in the church office at 204-488-8093 or

email [email protected].

Practices begin next Thursday, November 2, at 7:30 p.m. If you have questions, please

speak to our Director of Music Ministry, Helen Suh.

Annual Gift Tree In the first week of November you will see our Annual Gift Tree appear in

the Narthex (thanks to Jim Ellis). It’s time to think about bringing in toys, hats, mitts,

and scarves for the Christmas Store at St. Matthew’s-Maryland Community

Ministry. Gifts for children of all ages are desirable, and gifts for teenagers are especially

welcome. StMMCM also welcomes small gifts suitable for adults so children can shop

for their parent/caregiver. This is a special Outreach project of St. Peter’s, facilitated by

the Mission & Outreach Committee. It is a great opportunity to express our generosity!

An exciting, new fundraiser for the fall season from your Fundraising Committee - a Wine

Raffle! Raffle tickets will be sold October to December, with the draw held at the Cookie

Walk on December 9th. There will be great prizes with the first prize being a selection of

30 bottles of wine. Tickets will be $5 each. What we are looking for right now is

contributions of wine to be used for the prizes. We are looking for "store bought" wine

in the $15 plus price range (sorry no home made - although we are sure it is quite good!).

Wine can be brought to the Church and given to Shelagh. If you have any questions, see

the event organizer David Thompson.

Clothes for Bambinos Once again we plan to send a suitcase of baby clothes and blankets to

the maternity hospital in San Pancho, Mexico. The need is enormous and each year our

gifts have been very gratefully received. We can accept your gifts of new, purchased

baby clothes (please include store receipt) - and new, handmade/knitted clothes and

blankets. We will be collecting the clothes until Christmas. What better way to give

thanks for the birth of the Christ Child.

Church calendars are available from Shelagh in the office for $6.00.
