Holy Land Wood Art The main income for the Christian community of Bethlehem-The Birth Place of Jesus-is selling their handcrafted olive wood religious items to the pilgrims who visit the area. The past few years have been extremely hard for the community as a result of declining tourism. Some Christians responded by fleeing the Holy Land, and the absence of a living Christian community is very dangerous for the Holy Sites such as the Church of The Nativity. On September, 28th & 29th, we will be having some of their beautiful art held for sale in an effort to strengthen the Christian presence in the Holy Land. HLWA Inc. AN INVITATION TO JOIN OUR SMALL CHRISTIAN

COMMUNITY

On Thursday September 5th, 2019 at 10:45 AM, our Small Christian Community of lay members of our Parish, will begin its weekly meetings at our Church after a summer break. The group discussions always finish before the start of the Thursday 12:05 PM Mass. We make use of the free, downloadable small-group materials provided by Emmaus Journey at emmausjourney.org. Quoting from that web site, “the materials are based on each week’s Mass readings and the seasons of the liturgical year. Each study provides an introduction on some aspect of the readings or on personal spirituality… along with a few questions designed to engage the heart and stimulate the group’s discussion… we trust that God will use these materials to make His Word more meaningful to you, both within the small group environment and during Mass as you hear Scriptures read and taught.” You are invited to “Come and See; Come and Stay; or Come and Go.” If you are interested in exploring this small group spiritual opportunity, please contact the Parish Office. A member of the group will contact you.
