GUJCOST sponsored two day workshop on “PHARMACOEPIDEMIOLOGY

AND RISK MANAGEMEN” was organized at Maliba Pharmacy College (MPC),

Uka Tarsadia University (UTU), Bardoli on 22 & 23rd

august 2019. The workshop

was aimed to teach the students about the significant of Pharmacoepidemiology

and Pharmacoeconomics procedure with real case studies. Two experts from the

field of patent was invited as a speaker for the workshop namely Dr. Kapil Gudala

and Dr. Krishna Undela. Total 123 delegats were registered from different colleges

of India.

Day – I, 22nd

August 2019

First day of the workshop begun with UTU anthem and lamp lighting at SRIMAD

hall UTU on 22nd

August 2019. The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Dr.

Shailesh Shah – Principal MPC, Dr. Ashish Mishra – Dean Faculty MPC, Mr.

Avinash Khadela – Organizing secretary and Assistant professor MPC and the

chief guest Dr. Kapil Gudala. Dr. Shailesh Shah gave an introductory speech

regarding the Institute. Mr. Avinash Khadela gave the speech regarding the

significance of this workshop. Dr. Zeel Naik introduced the first day speaker Dr.

Kapil Gudala, Senior health economist, Novartis, Hyderabad. The first session

was conducted by him on Introduction to health Economics &

pharmacoeconomics and its role in health care sector & Methods of

Pharmacoeconomics. Following the lunch at girl’s hostel, second session of hands

on training on hypothetical problems solving in published paper. The session was

very interactive and Dr. Kapil Gudala pleasantly clarify the queries raised by the

delegates. Day 1 was concluded with high tea.

Day – II, 23rd

August 2019

All the lectures of day two on 23rd

August 2019 was held at SHRIMAD hall UTU.

Speaker for the second day Dr. Krishna Undela, Assistant professor, Department of

Pharmacy Practice, JSS University, Mysore, was introduced by Dr. Nidhi Kher. In

the pre-lunch session an introduction of Principles of Descriptive

Pharmacoepidemiological Study Designs was given by him. Then all the

participants were headed for the lunch at girl’s hostel. In the final post lunch

session, the lecture was delivered regarding Protocol Writing for

Pharmacoepidemiological Study & Critical Appraisal of a

Pharmacoepidemiological Study Article with hands on training. Both the sessions

were very interactive, all the queries of the participants were solved.

Both the speakers were honored by memento and certificate on the respective days

of their lectures by Dr. Bhavin Vyas. Feedback was taken from the participants at

the end of both the sessions. Mr. Avinash Khadela as the organizing secretary of

the workshop presented a vote of thanks and the workshop ended with a group

picture.
