Tycho Brahe

Tycho was Born in Knutstorp Castle, Sweden He died in Prague, Czech RepublicHis father, Otee Brahe, was a nobleman and an important figure at the Court of the Danish King. His mother, Beate Bille, came from an important family that had produced leading churchmen and politiciansWhen he was 2, his uncle took him away to become a scholarHe attended Latin school from ages 6 to 12Began studying at the University of Copenhagen at age 12He studied law but was interested in astronomy

Brahe was best known for his accurate and comprehensive astronomical and planetary observations He worked without telescopes yet was able to devise a way to come up with precise measurements which indicated that supernovae lack parallax usually expected within sub-lunar phenomena.Parallax is the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions

Brahe also combined the Copernian Systerm with the Ptolemiac Stystem, creating the Tychonic System.

He also discovered the star SN 1572, which is found within the constellation of Cassiopeia.

Lost part of his nose in a sword duel against Manderup Parbery when they were arguing over a mathematical equation.

Had a pet elk.
