TYPOGRAPHY RESEARCH
FONTS The title of my film is ‘PURLOINED’. This short title is easy to remember for the audience. Some examples of opening credits/title fonts in the thriller genre:
‘Hand written’ style. Scruffy/skewed writing, connotes to the audience characteristics of people within the film.
Letters quite spaced out, connotes filmnarrative may have ‘gaps’ in it, allows audience to form their own opinions of what happens/happened.
Both black and white credits used in same opening sequence- suggests twists and different view points in the narrative. They also fade in and some letters remain blurry. Connotes this idea further.
These opening credits all follow the same colour theme, white/black/red.These colours connote different emotions or narrative in the film e.g. red- evil, lust, blood, anger / black- death, mystery, darkness / white- purity, innocence, mystery.
Here are some examples of the typography I would like to use for my opening sequence.
