Underwood-Alger  Scholarship  Fund  -  Music  Endowed  in  1998  by  Nelda  Alger  (1945  BS,  LS&A;;  1947  MS,  Zoology)  to  provide  scholarships  for  students  in  voice,  piano,  or  composition.    University  of  Michigan  Band  Alumni  Scholarship  Fund  Endowed  in  2002  by  the  University  of  Michigan  Band  Alumni  Association  to  support  undergraduate  scholarships  in  the  University’s  Band  programs.    University  of  Michigan  Men’s  Glee  Club  Endowment  Fund  Annual  scholarships  to  Glee  Club  members  based  on  contributions  to  Club  activities,  musical  talent  in  performances  and  rehearsals,  and  financial  need.    Joan  Elizabeth  Volz  Scholarship    Endowed  in  2002  by  Paul  Volz  to  provide  scholarships  for  graduate  students,  preferably  in  piano  and/or  organ.    Walgreen  Scholarship  Fund  Endowed  in  1985  by  Jean  and  Charles  Walgreen  (1928  PHC,  Pharmacy)  for  scholarships  to  outstanding  music  students.    James  A.  Walgreen  Keyboard  Scholarship  Endowed  in  1977  by  his  father,  Charles  Walgreen,  to  provide  scholarships  to  outstanding  students  majoring  in  piano  or  organ.      Jim  and  Stephanie  Walter  Endowment  for  Cultural  Experiences  on  International  Tours  Endowed  in  2010  to  subsidize  fees  for  cultural  experiences  for  students  on  Men’s  Glee  Club  international  tours  who  would  otherwise  not  be  able  to  participate  due  to  financial  concerns.    Herbert  G.  Watkins  Band  Fund  Established  in  1958  to  financially  assist  worthy  and  needy  band  members.      Juanita  Weddige  Scholarship  Endowed  in  1990  by  Professor  Emeritus  Emil  Weddige  (1938  MDES,  Rackham)  as  a  memorial  to  his  wife  to  provide  scholarships  for  seniors  who  have  high  scholarship  and  demonstrated  excellence  in  music.    Edith  Zickerman  Weinberg  Scholarship  Endowed  in  2002  to  provide  scholarships  for  undergraduate  piano  performance  majors.    Joy  Whitman  Weinberger  Scholarship  in  Voice  Endowed  in  1988  by  this  alumna  (1954  BM,  Voice)  for  scholarships  to  voice  students  with  special  promise  in  opera.    Zelma  Weisfeld  Theatre  Scholarship  Established  in  1988  by  former  students  and  colleagues  to  honor  this  Professor  Emerita’s  twenty-eight  years  of  teaching  to  provide  scholarship  assistance  to  outstanding  theatre  students  who  major  in  costume  design.    Joyce  E.  Whitney  Endowed  Piano  Scholarship  Scholarship  for  an  undergraduate  with  need  majoring  in  piano;;  if  no  student  meets  this  criteria  the  scholarship  may  be  given  to  any  piano  student  at  the  discretion  of  the  dean.    John  Wilkins  Marching  Band  Scholarship  Established  in  2004  by  Howard  Gourwitz  for  the  purpose  of  granting  scholarships  to  members  of  the  Michigan  Marching  Band.    David  McK  Williams  Scholarship  in  Organ  Endowed  in  1985  by  Brymer  Williams  (1936  BS  and  1949  PhD,  Chemical  Engineering)  in  honor  of  the  late  organist  of  St.  Bartholomew’s  Church  in  NYC  to  provide  scholarships  for  organ  students.    George  Balch  Wilson  Scholarship  Endowed  in  2015  by  an  anonymous  donor  to  provide  support  to  students  in  the  Master  of  Music  in  Composition  degree  program.  

Douglas  MacQueen  Woodard  Endowment  Fund  for  the  Charles  Baird  Carillon  Endowed  in  2013  by  Jana  Woodard  to  provide  funds  for  the  maintenance  of  the  Charles  Baird  Carillon  on  central  campus.    Joseph  Wojczynski  Memorial  Scholarship    Endowed  in  2001  with  gifts  from  family  and  friends  to  award  scholarships  to  students  studying  in  the  Department  of  Dance  in  memory  of  this  U-M  dance  student.    John  Wolaver  Memorial  Scholarship  Established  in  1958  by  friends  and  family  to  provide  scholarship  support  for  piano  majors  who  show    exceptional  evidence  of  being  superior  both  as  pianists  and  as  students  in  general.    John  A.  Wolaver  Scholarship    Endowed  in  1977  by  the  bequest  of  Margaret  L.  Wolaver  in  memory  of  her  son  for  scholarship  support  to    outstanding  students  in  music  with  piano  majors  given  first  consideration.    Women’s  Glee  Club  Director’s  Discretionary  Fund  Endowed  in  2000  from  funds  solicited  from  the  Alumni  Association  to  support  activities  and  programs  for  the  U-M  Women’s  Glee  Club  to  be  expended  at  the  discretion  of  the  Glee  Club  director.    Judith  and  Michael  Woodruff  Endowed  Scholarship  Endowed  in  2011  to  provide  scholarship  support  for  students  pursuing  a  degree  in  Dance.    Wozniak  Family  Scholarship  Endowed  in  2016  to  support  an  undergraduate  engineering  major  in  the  Michigan  Marching  Band.    Phyllis  Wright  Scholarship  Endowed  in  1996  by  Phyllis  Wright  with  additional  funding  by  family  members  to  provide  scholarship  assistance  for  students  in  the  Department  of  Theatre  &  Drama.    Helen  Wu  Campus  Orchestra  Fund  Endowed  in  1994  by  Helen  and  Clyde  Wu  to  provide  funds  for  the  needs  of  the  Campus  Orchestra.    Helen  Wu  Conducting  Fellow  Travel  Fund  Endowed  in  2015  by  Clyde  and  Helen  Wu  to  support  up  to  half  of  the  travel  costs  for  Helen  Wu  Conducting  Fellows  to  travel  to  competitions  at  any  location.    Helen  Wu  Graduate  Fellowship  in  Conducting  Endowed  in  1987  by  Helen  and  Clyde  Wu  and  awarded  to  an  outstanding  graduate  student  in  orchestral  conducting  who  is  the  current  conductor  of  the  Campus  Orchestra.    David  L.  Wynne  Glee  Club  Endowment  Endowed  in  1993  by  bequest  to  provide  funds  for  building  camaraderie  among  members  of  the  Men’s  Glee  Club.
