Prior to founding KW Group, Michelle spent 7 years working in the Conference and Exhibitions Industry in Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. She worked in Marcus Evans prior to starting KW Group and managed the conference production teams for Philippines, Singapore, Korea, South Africa and Kenya before establishing the Large Scale Events portfolio in the APAC and Middle East regions focusing on Property, Construction & Infrastructure, Urban Planning, Oil & Gas, Airlines & Aviation, Banking & Finance and Hospitality. Michelle leads the topic generation, research, speaker and conference development team for KW Group.
ANDREW KEABLE, CEO Andrew has 20 years international experience managing exhibition & media businesses in Europe (UK, France, Germany), Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman) & Asia Pacific (Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia) Andrew spent his early career with major UK PLC’s Informa Exhibitions & UBM before establishing KW Group in 2010 with HQ in Malaysia and operating events in Indonesia, Singapore, UK, UAE, Malaysia & China. Andrew is a strategic international business leader with the last 11 years based between Asia & Middle East actively launching & managing new event profiles and establishing multi cultural teams.

INTRODUCTION • UAE Ministry of Economy and the Office of the UAE Ambassador to Malaysia are initiating a sustainable
business & investment relationship between the UAE & Malaysia to facilitate private sector trade & investment across key sectors.
• The objective of this forum is to explore and facilitate opportunities for UAE-Malaysia trade and investment business relationships between the two countries. This forum is targeted at senior decision makers from the public and private sectors from UAE and Malaysia.
• The forum will take place in two parts with invitation for Malaysia Government and private sector representation at initial meetings as part of Global Trade Development Week, Dubai, 30 Oct – 1 Nov 2017 to initiate trade discussions and discuss any trade barriers.
• This will set the scene for the Business Forum hosted in Malaysia from February 5-7, 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as an official Government supported Trade Delegation and Trade Initiative by Ministry of Economy and the Federal Government of UAE.
Decrease in trade & investment between UAE-Malaysia
• Bilateral trade between the UAE and Malaysia has decreased since 2014 due to the slowdown in the global economy and drop in oil prices, according to the Malaysia’s Ambassador to the UAE
• The UAE is the largest trading partner for Malaysia in the Gulf region and is the fifteenth largest trading partner globally.
• The UAE is investing in Malaysia in a big way with total investments of about $1.56 billion up to 2015 and capacity for further trade and investment particularly across non oil & gas sectors.
• Recent UAE investment by Lulu Hypermarkets to open 10 Hypermarkets in Malaysia is estimated to see a minimum of $200 million USD initial investment from Lulu into Malaysia with a target to take 20% share of Malaysia’s hypermarket potential.
• The UAE is involved in 32 projects generating employment for about 4,000 people in Malaysia, according to the Malaysia Ambassador to UAE.
• UAE investments in Malaysia to date are largely concentrated in chemical products, metal products, machinery and petroleum products sectors.
• Malaysia continues to draw tourists from the UAE though the figures have decreased over recent years with more than 15,000 people from the UAE travelled to Malaysia in 2015 which is down from about 25,000 tourists in 2010.
