While-Listening:

Grammar: Like/Love+ing

Vocabulary: Clothes

Hey there, what’s up? My name is Julian, I am 15 year old and I’m a good looking, cool, nice and funny boy. I live in Manchester, do you know that we have the best football team in the world!? I think you will like my school; it’s the best school of the city. The teachers are really cool especially Mr McDonald, the music teacher...he is mental!

Now some things about me: I love skateboarding, because I’m a real good Skater! I like wearing baggy jeans and big t-shirt, I think they are very cool! Every day after school I’m in my favourite skate shop Rollin. After I do my homework, I usually go out to skate. I dream is to build a skate park with some of my best friends. My girlfriend Amy is not Skater she is quite Indie, but we like the same things, she is very nice and pretty and she loves playing the guitar. One thing I don’t like is the Goths, I think they are scary and I don’t like their black clothes! I hope that you are not a Goth! Hehe. I have a lot of hobbies, I like swimming, reading and chilling out. My favourite music is: The Offspring (the best rock group, I think), Metallica (come on, they’re metal gods, aren’t they?), then the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. love watching horror films, I’m a real horror freak. My favourite horror films are Friday 13th, parts 1 to 9. They are the best.

Ok then, bye and hope to see you soon!

- Jo: Pale? She is a strange girl! The teacher sent her home today because she was wearing strange clothes and black make-up…

- Amy: Really? Well, don’t worry, she is a nice girl. Sometimes she can be shy but she is lovely and she is always telling interesting things! And…I really want to eat an ice cream…please…

Dear Ms Marks

We would be very grateful if you would be able to send us a selection of travel brochures about Queensland Australia.

Our class is researching the tourist attractions of Queensland as a social studies project. We know that these brochures would be very useful as part of our presentation to parents and other classes at the school.

Thank you for considering our request. We are happy to pay for any postage and have enclosed a stamped addressed envelope.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Strong Richard Strong

ZOE from New York“I’m personally tired of labels. Everyday I sit with a friend of mine that is a Goth and people tell me that I am a Goth too! I don’t want to be labelled because of my friends or just because I sit with a certain group of people. Labels are wrong! I have my own style and I look at the people inside not just to their clothes and I believe that everybody should do the same”.

NATALIE from Liverpool “Every one is labelled in my school: chavs, populars, skaters, clubbers... and it will be always like this!! Some of my mates think that I’m a chav because I wear tracksuits and like hip hop music. However, I don’t think I am a chav because they are normally very violent and trouble makers and I hate violence… I’m me Natalie…and I’m proud”.

DANIEL from Canada“To be honest with you I hear all the time “I want to be individual” etc, but you're not being yourself if you follow a type of style (Chav, Goth, Grunge, etc). I think that people don't want to be labelled however…everyone is a sheep!!! Peace”.
