REFLEXIONS April 2015 UFLEX WINS THREE PRESTIGIOUS AIMCAL AWARDS UFLEX won three prestigious AIMCAL Awards in the 2015 competition. The awards were all in the Product Competition Section. The awards were conferred for Packaging: Food and Beverage – Technical, Packaging: Food and Beverage – Marketing and Packaging: Non-food – Technical categories, three of the most coveted AIMCAL awards. The Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) is based in the USA and is one the world’s leading trade associations in the Flexible Packaging industry. Its awards are some of the most sought-after honours in the global Packaging industry and are based on an annual competition in which almost all the world’s leading players in the global Flexible Packaging business and best-known brand owners participate. The winning entries were the SPARKLE Innolock Standup Pouch (Food and Beverage – Technical), the PARAS Ghee Pouch (Food and Beverage – Marketing) and the HIRA Pouch with Multilens (Nonfood – Technical). UFLEX won three top AIMCAL Awards in last year’s competition as well. The awards were announced and handed over at AIMCAL’s Annual Meeting held in March 2015. We will carry a detailed write-up on the prize-winning products in our next issue. The accompanying photographs are those of Messrs. UFLEX WINS PRESTIGIOUS HR AWARDThe Corporate HR Division of UFLEX was awarded the trophy in the ‘Learning and Development Leadership” category by ABP News, a leading media organisation, at the WHRD Congress held in Mumbai on the 16th of February 2015. The award recognises work done to raise the standard of HR practices and people management that add value and enhance productivity.

The photograph below shows Mr. Prashant Sharma of Corporate HR receiving the award on our behalf.

ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFICATION RENEWED FOR OUR NOIDA AND DUBAI FILM PLANTSOur Dubai and Noida Film Plants have been re-certified as meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 after an audit carried out by the designated audit agency TUV headquartered in Germany. The certification is valid till November 2017.ISO 9001:2008 is one the world’s leading standards on comprehensive corporate excellence in Quality Management Systems and is administered by the International Standards Organisation (ISO). The attached photographs are those of the certificates issued by TUV.

CMD VISITS DUBAI FILM PLANTCMD Mr. Ashok Chaturvedi, accompanied by a team of foreign delegates, visited our Dubai facility on the 23rd of March 2015 and went around the Film Plant. The Film Plant houses state-of-the-art lines for production of Biaxially Oriented Polyester (BOPET) Film and Plasma-enhanced High Barrier Metallising. The photo below was taken during this visit.

HOLI CELEBRATED AT USA FILM PLANT Holi, the Hindu festival of colours, was celebrated in the traditional way at our USA Film Plant in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

VISIONING WORKSHOP AT HOLOGRAPHY DIVISIONOur Holography Division conducted a 2-day Visioning Workshop on the 24th and 25th of February 2015.The workshop was aimed at creating a shared vision and mission, understanding the current reality of the business and creating a roadmap and key priorities to accomplish the mission.The following basic objectives were laid out:

• To review organisation, resources, challenges, opportunities and constraints. To do a SWOT analysis and organise plans and idea to maximise benefits to the organisation.

• To brainstorm on Organisational, Leadership and People challenges and to create plans around them to develop a clear-cut future-ready organisation with a clear line of sight.

• To create a long term vision in the form of a Vision 2020 document to clearly lay out long term goals for the business.

Post the Visioning Exercise, a structured plan for unveiling and cascading the visioning statement was prepared to ensure that everybody shares and is aligned to the Vision, Mission and Team charter commandments of the business. A structured governance process is being put in place to achieve the vision by creating and implementing clear roadmaps towards that goal.The visioning was facilitated by Mr. R. Venkatesh Iyer and Ms. Shubhra Bhattacharya of Vyaktitva.Visioning workshops have already been conducted in our Packaging, Chemicals and Engineering divisions.The accompanying photographs were taken during the workshop.
