Dear Parents and Carers,
Scripture will start next week. It is run on a Thursday with
teachers provided from respective churches and Ethics group.
All staff have working with children checks and have been
trained and approved by their governing body. There are
limits on number of students who can do Ethics and so some
students who have selected this may not get in.
Crunch and Sip is a program many schools run, including ours.
It allows students to have a quick break half way through their
morning session to eat a piece of fruit or vegetable. Please
remember how fast your child eats and the fact that they only
have a quick break. It is best if they have a whole piece of fruit
that it is cut ready for them, or in the case of an orange,
peeled. (This is critical in Kindergarten.)
Recess and Lunch
This has been a controversial topic in the media over the past
couple of weeks and the needs for healthy lunches. All classes
are supervised during the eating time. Students should be
provided with a wholesome snack for recess and a sandwich
and perhaps a treat at lunch. It is important that food is not
“junk” food as too much sugar upsets the brain and sugar
levels and interferes with students’ ability to concentrate. In
some instances some foods make children aggressive. Please
consider what you pack. Encourage your child not to share as
we do have a number of students who have Anaphylactic
reactions to some foods. For this reason we ask that you not
send nuts or peanut butter sandwiches to school. We are not
a nut free school but if we can all work together to make it a
safer place for all students is great. This goes for birthday
cakes parents might send in. It is best if they are cup cakes and
the ingredients are listed on the container. I know this is time
consuming but some students are allergic to eggs and other
food products.
Health Care Plan
I know I spoke of these previously but it is essential that you
provide the school with a Health Care Plan, in colour, signed
by your doctor. If you have indicated, on enrolment that your
child has asthma or an allergy, these need to be provided
ASAP, along with the appropriate medication, that is a puffer
or epipen.
Swimming Carnival
I must apologise for my oversight in not thanking the Ulladulla
Swim Club for their part in the successful swimming carnival
held a couple of weeks ago. Your ongoing support is
appreciated by the school and assist us in ensuring things are
done correctly and that we have enough shade and helpers to
make the day run smoothly.
School Photos are coming up next week. Please return your
note with correct money as soon as possible.
Concerns
If you have a concern in regard to your child, please contact
the class teacher in the first instance. This will, in most cases,
answer your concerns. If you are not happy with the handling
of an issue by a classroom teacher then please contact their
supervisor and they will organise a combined meeting with
you and the staff member. We need to keep open
communication and work as a team to support student
learning. Address issues quickly, don’t keep them bottled up,
but remember there is always two sides to every issue.
Harmony Day, is being held on the 21st March with
performances by students and a picnic lunch. If you have a
business and want to provide a “pop up café” for the day let
us know.
P&C are into organising Market Day. For those of you who are
not sure what this is it is similar to a school fete. If you want to
help please let the P&C know what times you are available.
Bus Passes
All students travelling to and or from school require a bus
pass. These are ordered on line. If you need help the bus
company will assist. The website for applications is
https:/apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/applyNOW
Have a great week

Thank you to all involved in the preparation, set up and run-
ning of the carnival.
This semester we are trialling a change in our school assembly routine in order to develop stronger partnerships between Infants
and Primary students and teachers.
There will be no more separate Infants and Primary assemblies. All students will be split into two groups (Assembly A or
Assembly B) and will have a K-6 Assembly every fortnight (approximately). There is a timetable below that outlines what
assembly group your child is in and when their class item is on. (Infants assembly items will be scheduled for Terms 3 & 4).
Assemblies will start at 12pm on a Friday unless specified below.
Please check to see if your child is in Assembly group A or B and note the dates of the Assembly.
In addition, there will be whole school assemblies (every student) for special events such as Harmony Day ANZAC and NAIDOC
Day.
We will send home a survey during Term 2 to get your thoughts on this trial.

Kinder News
While the new Kindergarten children are
settling into school routines, we ask that you
please do not send any money to school to
spend at the canteen. Kinder children
become confused and upset with this new
experience. Children are able to order their
lunch by placing an order in the lunch basket
in the classroom. Kindergarten will be able to
go to the canteen from Monday 27th
February.
Thank you for your support and
understanding in this matter.
