The Ulmatec Mudbucket™ is supplied in a number of versions, tailored to the customer’s requirements for automated or manually control operations. Among other options, the tool can be provided with a manoeuvring arm and remote control system which allow the operator to access the drill string from outside the red zone.

The Ulmatec Mudbucket™ can also be delivered for use with an external crane for lifting and control, and for hydraulic or manual closing and opening.

The system is supplied complete with gaskets for all drill string dimensions, hoses and hoisting arrange-ments.

The Ulmatec Mudbucket™ helps to keep the drill floor tidy and mud-free by collecting the drilling fluids and guiding them to the storage tanks. In addition to preventing discharges of mud to the environment, this permits a cleaner, safer and more efficient work operation.

Drilling fluids are used extensively in the upstream oil and gas industry, and are critical to ensuring a safe and productive oil or gas well. A large volume of such fluids is circulated in an open or semi-enclo-sed system during drilling, providing a significant potential for exposure to chemicals and consequent

health effects. The risk of exposure to drilling fluids is particularly significant for drill floor personnel du-ring handling and completion of drill strings. These threats can be reduced by encapsulating the drill string in order to collect and guide the mud, and by automating drill floor activities.

The Ulmatec Mudbucket™ is delivered in four princi-pal versions, including two with fully automated handling systems which incorporate a manoeuvring arm and remote control of all functions.

These versions eliminate any need for the operator to come into contact with the drill string and thereby be exposed to moving parts in the red zone on the drill floor.
