ABOUT US

UMP Holdings Sdn Bhd (UMPH) was incorporated in accordance to the University & University-College Act 1971, under Section 7 (1) (a), (b) and (c). UMPH was registered on March 8, 2004 as a private limited company with registration number of 644762-H.

UMPH is wholly owned by Universiti Malaysia Pahang with authorized capital of RM5,000,000.00 and paid-up capital of RM4,500,000.00. UMPH is also registered with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and CIDB for G7 class.

UMPH is also a certified company under ISO 9001:2015

The role of UMPH is to participate in equitable partnership, joint venture and any other form of cooperation in order to vitalize the roles and activities of a university. Our main activities are to develop, construct and manage the properties such as office buildings, laboratories, apartments and houses.

In accordance to complement and enhance business activities for UMPH, four subsidiaries were established with roles vary according expertise such as UCT Solutions Sdn Bhd (UCTS), UMP Services Sdn Bhd (UMPS) and UMP Technology Sdn Bhd .

Apart from that, UMPH also established spin-off companies for research commercialisation purpose such as Synbion Sdn Bhd, UMP Ecopest Sdn Bhd (carry out business in termite and other pest control service management), UMP Keraglow Sdn Bhd (carry out business to produce keratin) and UMP Green Technology Sdn Bhd (UGT – Focus on recycling of based oil from spent lubricant). .

Director Tuan Haji Ahmad Zakie bin Ahmad Shariff

Chairman Dato’ Majid bin Mohamad

Tuan Haji Ahmad Zakie bin Ahmad Shariff, began his career as an accounting lecturer in the Faculty of Business Management, UKM in 1980 where he taught upon his return from the USA, where he holds a holds a Master of Accounting Science degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi, Malaysia. He is presently the Executive Chairman of Kuber Ventures Berhad, in investment company investing in business opportunities across many industries. Throughout his industrious career journey too, he hold many critical portfolios such as in Perbadanan Menteri Besar Kelantan (PBMK), FA Securities Sdn. Bhd., Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM), Maybank Group, UEM Group Berhad, Rashid Hussain Securities, Smith Zain Securities Penang, Permodalan Terengganu Berhad Asset Management and SJ Securities Sdn. Bhd. He has been involved in the capital market for most of his career and is also well experienced in the segment of human capital management.

Dato’ Majid holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from University of Malaya and a Master of Business Administration degree from Manchester Business School, England. He also attended senior management programmes at Harvard Business School, United States and INSEAD, France. Dato’ Majid has extensive experience in the setting up, regulatory planning and rehabilitation of finance and insurance institutions. He started his banking career in Bank Negara Malaysia in 1977 and held various supervisory roles across key departments, from audit to economics, and bank and insurance regulation. He was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of several life and general insurance companies in Malaysia including Pacific and Orient Insurance Berhad, Malaysia National Insurance Berhad, The People’s Insurance Co. (Malaysia) Berhad and Talasco Insurance Berhad. In 2001, he facilitated the successful merger of Talasco Insurance Berhad and The People’s Insurance Co. (Ma-laysia) Berhad. He retired as CEO and president of Labuan Reinsurance (L) Ltd at the end of 2010 and currently the Managing Advisor of MBM Advisors (L) Ltd, a consultancy outfit based in Labuan International Business and Financial Centre, and Technical Advisor to the Labuan International In-surance association and The Lloyd’s of London. He also serves in the Investment Committee of Uni-versiti Malaysia Pahang. His directorships in other companies are in Alliance Islamic Bank Berhad (AIS), AIA Public Takaful Berhad, Pasdec Resources (South Africa) Ltd.


Director Haji Basharuddin bin Saad

Tuan Haji Basharuddin bin Saad, graduated with LL.B (Hons), University of London in 1979,holds a Certificate of Legal Practice, Qualifying Board, Malaysia and Diploma Syarie LegalPractice from International Islamic University Malaysia. Besides, Basharuddin holds severalother professional memberships such as of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants,Member of Malaysia Institute of Accountants and Member of Bar Council Malaysia.He beganhis career as an officer in utility company and cooperative Bank, before ventured into thePetronas Group in September 1980. He assumed various positions within Exploration andProduction, Retails Marketing and Gas businesses over a period of 29 years. This was achievedat different level of management positions, at General Manager and Senior Manager levels.He oversaw portfolios which include finance and accounting, commercial and marketing,contracting and procurement, risk management and company secretarial duties of listedentity.

Director Dato’ Dzulkifly bin Mahmud

Dato’ Dzulkifli Mahmud started his career with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in 1981, and is the former CEO of MATRADE, an agency under the ministry. Prior to that appointment in June 2015, he was the Deputy CEO of MATRADE, Senior Director of the Exporters Development Division MATRADE, Senior Trade Commissioner for the Gulf Cooperation Councils, and the Consul and Trade Commissioner of the Consulate of Malaysia in Milan. He holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Malaya and a graduate degree in public management from the Institute of Public Administration Malaysia.


Director En. Mohd Sharil bin AbdullahBegin his career with his alma mater, Universiti Technology Malaysia (UTM), En. Shahril Abdullah is currently the Chairman of UMP Advanced Sdn. Bhd. and sits in the Board of Director of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP). Throughout his colourful career journey, he had been appointed as Board of Trustee with Yayasan Makmur, Board of Authority in Medical Device Authority (MDA), and holds a role as a Director of Industry and Community Collaboration Division in Ministry of Higher Education.

He possessed an extensive experience in the government sector, holds credential positions in Ministry of Health Malaysia and Ministry of Higher Education and also involved in establishing the Action Plan for Malaysia Movement Control Order (MCO) and National Mitigation Plan for Covid-19 Pandemic.

En. Shahril completed all his tertiary education in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) – PhD (Wireless Communications), Master in Electrical Engineering (Electronic and Telecommunication), Bachelor Engineering (Electrical – Telecommunication) and Diploma Engineering (Electrical – Communications).

Director En. Dali Kumar @ Dali bin Sardar

En. Dali’s specific areas of expertise include financial & corporate restructuring and conventional banking derived from his vast working experience. He served as Relationship Manager at Citicorp/ Citibank and was also attached to the Leveraged Buyouts (‘LBO’) and Venture Capital Groups at Citibank New York. Upon his return to Malaysia, he was seconded to Citicorp Capital Sdn Bhd where he served as the Vice President of Citicorp/Citibank in 1990 and as the Executive Director of Citicorp Capital until 1993 where he was eventually promoted as its Managing Director in 1994. En. Dali also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Utama Merchant Bank Berhad in 1996. He sits as a director of Chuan Huat Resources Bhd, a company listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia and Malaysian General Investment Corporation (MGIC) Bhd as well as on several boards of foreign companies such as Norhtec Corporation Ltd, Thailand and M Development Ltd, Singapore. En. Dali is currently the director of DTA Capital Group which is a venture capital/private equity and corporate finance set-up involved in mainly venture fund management, direct equity investments, debt raising, mergers & acquisitions, pre-IPO planning and various forms of corporate & financial restructuring.

Director YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Zafir Bin Ibrahim

YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Zafir bin Ibrahim obtained his Master in Information Technology and B.A. Hons (Islamic Studies), both from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2003. He also holds a Diploma in Public Administration from the National Institute of Public Administration. YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Zafir started his career in the civil service as an administrative and diplomatic (PTD) officer and currently holds the position of Deputy Division Secretary (Transformation) / Chief Value Innovation Officer (CVIO) at the Strategic Corporate and Communications Division in the Ministry of Finance. His expansive knowledge and experience in public service and Information Technology bodes well for the with the direction of the company to gain a better insight into the financial management, quality, transformation and innovation programmes pertaining to the Government’s aspiration on ICT initiatives, and benefited from that.

Ir. Dr. Syed Mohamad Hamzah Al-Junid bin Syed Abdul Rahman has been on board since May 2015 as the Group CEO. Prior to that, he sat as one of the Board of Directors of Universiti Malaysia Pahang and was the former Managing Director of AJ Infinite (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Chief Executive Officer of Casemix Solutions Sdn. Bhd. He obtained his Bachelor Degree with First Class Hon ours in Electrical (Electronic) Engineering from Universiti Malaysia Pahang and subsequently completed his MBA Essential from London School of Economics and Political Science. Known for his appetite on continuous self – development, he is currently pursuing his Ph.D in Health Economics at United Nations University – International Institute for Global Health. To add to his already established resume, he is a corporate member of Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), certified Professional Engineer by Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and had previously been trained in leadership programme from Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership, University of Cambridge.

Nor Rubaiha Mohamed Nor is the Chief Business Officer of UMP Holdings. Previously she was with UEM Group for most of her industrious career, holdings various strategic roles such as Manager Corporate Finance and Investment Division, Manager Corporate Planning and Business Monitoring Department, Senior Manager of Human Capital Development and Corporate Affair, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan UEM & KYUEM. She completed her Advance Diploma in Commerce, Australia Institute for University Studies and later obtained his Bachelor in Commerce (Banking & Finance) at Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia.


General Manager, UCT Solutions Sa’udin bin Sulong

Sa’udin Sulong has experience for about 21 years in chemical engineering and manufacturing. Previously, he was a Senior Technical Engineer at Kaneka Electec Sdn. Bhd. for Polyamide Plant. Before that he was an Executive at Nippon Pigment (M) Sdn. Bhd. , which produces plastic material colouring using Extrusion. He graduated from UTM with a degree in Chemical Engineering (Polymer) in 2000. He also holds a Diploma of Polymer Technology from UiTM and rubber processing from Rubber Research Malaysia (RRIM).

General Manager, Imani Agro Industries Alif Falatin bin Abdul Latif

Alif Falatin Abdul Latif holds Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering and a member of Boards of Engineer Malaysia. His expertise is in Manufacturing and Construction. He has various working experiences more than 10 years with government and private organizations specializing in M&E and C&S Facilities, Project & Property Management.

Senior Vice President, BusinessAzman bin Ridwan

Azman Ridwan holds an MBA from International Business School, University Technology of Malaysia specializing in Strategic Management and a Degree in Chemical Engineering from University Technology of Malaysia. Azman has been known as a seasoned professional with more than 15 years in Facilities, Project & Property Management. His expertise is in driving brand growth, maximizing operational excellence, delivering financial and investment performance. He has various working experiences with local and international organizations specializing in Facilities, Project & Property Management. He also has a vast experience in the consultation roles as a Consultant (Facilities & Maintenance Management) and Renewable Energy sector and held General Manager Project position in IRM Group Berhad before focusing back to the facilities & property sector.


Vice President, Marketing & Communication Muhamad Adlan bin Ma’arup

Is tasked to transform company’s corporate branding and marketing, Adlan Ma’arup possessed a solid 13 years’ experience in various Human Resource discipline – Industrial Relations, Employee Engagement, Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, Recruitment and Corporate Social Responsibility in multiple industries namely retailing with 7-Eleven (M) Sdn. Bhd., FSI with CIMB Group and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, MNC with Advance Micro Devices (AMD) Global Services Sdn Bhd and telecommunication with TIME dotcom Bhd. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Bachelor in Business Administration (Hons) in Human Resource Management and was also holds a Diploma in Business Studies from Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM) Bangi.

General Manager, UMP Technology Mohd Nizam bin Abdul Rashid

Prior joining UMP Technology Sdn. Bhd. in 1 November 2019, Nizam Rashid wasmandated to lead the Commercialisation initiative under UMP’s Strategic Plan 2016-2020. His portfolio includes to plan, execute and monitor the development of innovationecosystem in the university which involves establishment of policies, strategic businessdevelopment and start-up nurturing. As a skilled Technology Transfer Professional, hepossessed a vast experience in evaluation of more than 70 commercialisation projectsranging from start-up to companies at growth stage. He was a researcher in the fieldof Assisted Reproduction Technology in Universiti Malaya (UM) and an Associate inTechnology Ventures Division, Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC).Nizam Rashid currently pursuing his PhD in Project Managementat Universiti Malaysia Pahang. Prior to that, he obtained his Masterdegree in Biotechnology and Bachelor degree from Universiti Malaya.

Vice President, Group Finance Abdul Fauzi bin Japar

Abdul Fauzi bin Japar is the holder of Bachelor in Arts (Hons.) in Accounting from University of Liverpool, England. Before joining UMP Holdings, he served under multiple wings of international companies such as Lee & Raman Accounting Firm based in Brunei Darussalam, Maguire & Co. Firm and Al-Maktoum Foundation Ltd based in Republic of Ireland as well as Pasdec Holdings Berhad in Pahang, Malaysia. With almost 23 years of experience in accounting and financial management, he then took another leap to join UMP Holdings as the Manager of Corporate Finance.


Vice President, Group Human Capital Nordiana Ariff binti Abdul Halim

Bringing with her 18 years career span between Finance and HR in Intel, where she obtained LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt, and subsequently Shell, Diana has proven success in project management for major implementations and transitions on both Finance and HR shared service centers, and Merger & Acquisition. Proficient in Japanese language, she holds a Bachelor of Humanity in Information Management System from Hirosaki University, Japan

Vice President, Legal & Governance Aida Husna binti Ruslan

Aida Husna binti Ruslan read law at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) where she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB(Hons)) in 2008. She completed her pupillage Messrs Radzi Abdullah and was admitted to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in January 2010. She has 8 years experience in SHE commenced her legal practice in a law firm known as Messrs Mohd Razak Associates since May 2010 where her portfolio involves general litigation, banking, bankruptcy insolvency, contract law, family and matrimonial, harta pusaka and land law disputes. Manager, Building Information Modelling Muhammad Syaiful Safwan bin Nordin

Muhammad Syaiful Safwan bin Nordin holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Universiti Malaysia Pahang. He has more than 5 years industrial experience specifically in Building Information Modelling (BIM). Previously, he was working as a Site Coordinator at Rekpasifik Sdn. Bhd. He managed a few mega projects under the collaboration with Ministry of Rural Development and UDA Central during the attachment. He then further his career in the field of BIM as a BIM Modeller with Industry Centre of Excellence (ICoE) Construction, a centre for graduate employability established by the Ministry of Education. He has been certified as a Master Trainer for CIDB Module BIM Concept & Theory, Fundamental Modelling Architecture & Structure, and BIM Coordinator. He has vast experiences in delivering awareness talk and training to numerous active construction industry players such as Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), UEM Sunrise Sdn Bhd, Panasonic Homes (M) Sdn Bhd and many more.
