Eliza, Harry’s mother, overhears
the conversation;
Eliza and George-appalled
by Shelby’s plan of selling
Harry;
Emily Shelby had promised
not to sell their son;
George runs away from his
master, as well as Eliza and
Harry;
Locker, the slave catcher, pursues
Eliza and George;
Catches up with them and put up
a fight;
George shoots Locker in the side
Locker is cured in a nearby
mission;
George and Eliza are free to go to
Canada;
Tom accepts being sold;
He feels sorry for
abandoning his family;
He is bought by a good
slave owner, travelling in
the same ship as Tom:
