Under the Golden Dome Series Tuesday, November 19, 2019 | 7pm Centenary University Blackbox Theatre | Lackland Center Speaker: Centenary University Enactus Team Topic: Centenary Enactus Students take on the Global Water Crisis Centenary University Enactus is a Global Entrepreneur Organization. Enactus is the world’s largest experiential learning platform dedicated to creating a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators. One of the largest problems that they had faced was the devastating effects of the global water crisis. Marine Veteran Jackie Dunlap and Enactus Co President Marc Santora will share their story of how they got involved in fighting the global water crisis. Together they had built and distributed over fifty filters to families around the Dominican Republic that did not have access to clean water! This is a lecture series presented in cooperation with Campus Ministry and University Advancement. The lecture series brings together speakers that provide information that supports the United Methodists Church Mission for Social Justice. The General Board of Church and Society has a long history of concern for social justice. Wesley and the early Methodists expressed their opposition to societal ills such as slavery, smuggling, inhumane prison conditions, alcohol abuse, and child labor. Our Social Principles are the church’s prayerful and thoughtful attempt to speak to contemporary issues through a biblical and theological lens, seeking “to apply the Christian vision of righteousness to social, economic, and political issues” (Book of Discipline 2012, p. 53).
