Title-On our film poster, we placed the

title in the middle of our film poster in bold capitalised black

font, we then reflected the text and placed it under the original.

Not only does this title make our poster look more interesting, but it links to one

of the conventions of Neo-Noir, which is reflection. By using this reflection in our poster, it signifies to the audience that the poster is for a neo-noir film and it helps to ground the genre. By using strong black text, it signifies to the audience that the information is one of the main and most

important features of the poster. The reflecting of the text also links to the title of the movie and how things are being in secret but also right other their noises.

Main image-The main image of our film poster is a black and white image of our femme fatale. This image utilises a good depth of field as the face is blurred with the focus on the hand and the cigarette. The cigarette and smoke are key conventions of noir which is one of the main reasons we placed them in the main image. The main image is overlaid on top of a cityscape (which is also photographed in black and white). I thought it would be a good thing to have underneath the femme fatale as noirs are often filmed in urban settings such as busy, crowded cities.

Additional Images-

In the bottom left and right hand corners of the poster there are imaged of the protagonist and his son. These images are at a very low

opacity level to ensure they blend into the main image. In the additional image of the child we

played on the noir conventions, this is because in most noir movies, children are not included,

or a big focus of the movie. But in the additional image of Ross, we conformed to the noir genre by including a weapon pointing at

the audience.

Credit Block and Release Date-

A credit block and release dateis a major convention of film posters,. This is so that at a quick Glance the audience can know, Who distributed, produced, stared and edited the movie and When the moviewill be premiering. To ensure the creditblock looked like a conventional credit block, I downloaded a font called ‘Steel Tongs’, this allowed me to have professional looking text that was skinny and condensed, just like what is used in professional media texts.

Tagline-

Our film poster used a tagline as it is one of the film poster conventions. The tagline of our film is ‘Can deception be the way to truth?’, by having this tagline in capitalised bold text it texts the audience what kind of themes will be featured within our movie. Underneath our tagline is the actors and actresses names, although these are bold and capitalised, these are not one of the main selling points of our film. This is due to our movie being an independent film, aimed at a niche target audience and therefore will not utilise Hollywood actors/actresses.
