Understand, Hope and Care Educare Centre
The days before the new prefabricated school, gabions, path,
plants and ground leveling...
Before we got started.
The plans for the new school.
My ultimate plan.
The day before the new Prefabricated school arrived.
Front view
The day after we handed the wood and asbestos, doors and window frames back into the community.
All that remained were these piles of rubble everywhere.
...the clean-up begins...
We moved the building rubble of the old school to two places. A huge pile in the back and a smaller one in the front of the school. Readying ourselves for when the gabions arrived.
Meanwhile the painting got on the way and the first gabions started to arrive.
Preparing and stacking the gabions.
Gabions almost full, we were waiting for the plants to arrive and then filled them to the top.
Removing the rust.
Undercote and rust guard
Container painted.
After we dug out the foot path and cemented it solid, I started the mozaic. You will notice little plants everywhere
on the left we did in between.
Container painted, we finished the entrance part of the mozaic. We planted lots more plants in the meantime, Lemon trees, Lavender bushes, chilli
trees, Green Peppers and many others. All plants I raised in my own garden at home.
Finally the middle section was completed and I could focus on the borders.
Borders done
Ground leveling done. We dug 2 massive pits and dug sand out to cover the entire surface of the school with fresh clean sand.
Ground leveling
Ground leveling done, compost in the soil, plants starting to take roots and growing nicely.
...our final day...
