The idea

The idea for my magazine was inspired by ‘EMPIRE’ Magazine, this is a film magazine that displays information about the latest films as well as anything film related. This could include interviews with cast, directors aspiring film makers etc..The also offer interactive articles such as competitions as well as an online site for more information (http://www.empireonline.com/magazine/ )This magazine also gave me the idea of possible colour schemes that I might use e.g. Bold colours such as Reds, blues, whites as well as using black to make the fonts look shadowed or as a contrasting tone.

Mastheads When coming up for ideas for the

masthead I had initially chosen ‘Urbanize’. This is because it would represent urban areas such as South London, and feature stories based on topical and social issues that occur in those types of areas. I would put an original twist on the magazine as it would target audiences of ‘social realism’ genre and include personal stories that audiences would submit to a PO Box.

I then decided to change the Masthead to ‘UnderTheWire’. I think it sounds more like a film magazine compare to the first one.

Continued ...

The concept of this title was that ‘UnderThe’ suggested the issues and areas that would be covered were things that are less commonly shown in the media.

It would include mostly independent film makers as well as some mainstream film companies that show as close to the truth, exposing what it really is like being involved in certain situations.

The ‘Wire’ part of the new masthead links to film in the sense that the ‘wire’ symbolises streaming as well as connection and form for media to travel by.

This make the magazine more targeted to its suitable audience.
