JungleSutra Wildlife JourneysJungleSutra has been established to fill what we feel is a void in the Indian travel industry. What the competition is offering is trips to wildlife reserves, but very few companies are offering complete wildlife experiences. JungleSutra is a team who approaches wildlife with a very different set of eyes. We develop experiences and journeys that go beyond basic park visits. The objective is to also showcase the flora and fauna that is not explored by other travellers.

Very few people know that Indian wildlife boasts of higher diversity as compared to other parts of the world. The Indian offering of wildlife sanctuaries hold some of the world’s finest wildlife stock. Yet today India doesn’t feature prominently on the international wildlife tourism map. Everybody looks at India and thinks only of Tigers, but how many know about the Lions in India, the Striped Hyena, the Red Panda, the One Horned Rhinoceros or the Whale Sharks off the coast of India. There is so much India has to offer in mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and flora; and the surface has yet to be even scratched.

A JungleSutra tour is aimed at the discerning traveller who is looking at exploring the exotic world of animals in luxury and style. Every JungleSutra itinerary is a complete customized package that takes care of travellers’ needs to the last mile. Our trips are designed to capture the uniqueness of each region, its wildlife, flora and fauna. Each wildlife safari experience has its own identity, feel and character. Accommodation, activities, cuisines and services are detailed to meet the preferences and budgets of the traveller.

JungleSutra will also has a very strong social initiative and engages with local communities and forest officials in activities that gives back to the areas we visit. The JungleSutra team is being manned by experienced wildlife and operations professionals and has linkages across the Indian sub-continent providing a seamless network and lifetime experience.

Established in 1977, Creative Travel is today considered to be India’s largest private and family owned Destination Management Company. Backed by a team of over 150 professionals and a footprint covering all of India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Tibet, the company has earned a reputation for being amongst India’s most quality conscious travel companies.

Creative has itself apart from its competitors by building into its programs activities that allow the traveller to experience the region up front and close. Elements of experiential travel are fast becoming a core philosophy of operations at Creative. JungleSutra is a proud brand of Creative Travel, which is relentlessly working to give a new horizon to wildlife journeys.

How we compare to AfricaFirstly, this comparison should never be done as each has its own charm with different landscapes and totally different wildlife diversity and to somebody interested in wildlife both can be as interesting and as intriguing. However, since it is the first place that comes to everybody’s mind when we talk about wildlife destinations we think it is important to highlight certain interesting facts & statistics that highlights the significance of wildlife in the Indian Subcontinent.

Central IndiaCentral India is perhaps the most organized wildlife experience in the country. It is also home to some wonderful lodges and some of the best naturalists in the country today.

Some of the popular parks here are: Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Kanha Tiger Reserve, Pench Tiger Reserve and Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. However, some of the lesser visited and often more experiential parks in this region are Panna Tiger Reserve and Satpura Tiger Reserve.

Needless to say, that the tiger remains the biggest attraction in the wildlife parks in this region. However, some other key species to look-out for in these parks are leopard, dhole (Asiatic wild dog), rusty spotted cat, gaur (Indian bison), marsh crocodile and about 350 species of birds.

The upper Himalayas is home to exceptional wildlife. This diversity is a result of the unique landscape and the weather conditions in the region. The fauna present here has much in common with that of Central Asia in general and that of the Tibetan Plateau in particular.

Some key mammals to look out for in these regions are the snow leopard, Himalayan wolf, Eurasian lynx, weasels, Himalayan fox, ibex, blue sheep and yak to name a few.

Sri Lanka is filled with unlimited treasures. This land despite its size consists of unbelievable landscapes. From pristine beaches, towering mountains, tropical rainforests, mangroves, arid savannahs and much more. This is an ancient land spanning a rich history of over 3,000 years.

The true treasure of Sri Lanka is its biodiversity. It is one of the most ecologically rich countries in the world and recognized as a biodiversity hotspot. Its varied climate and topographical conditions have given rise to this rich species diversity, believed to be the highest in Asia in terms of unit land area. Of 3,210 flowering plants belonging to 1,052 genera, 916 species and 18 genera are endemic.

Sri Lanka has one of the highest rates of biological endemism. 16% of the fauna and 23% of flowering plants are endemic in the world even though it is relatively small.
