or him. He did a home visit with us and he's just a good guy. That's going to be a strong suit or him. I think he'll do a terrifc

job. He's going to be able to recruit, which is so important, andhe knows the type o player he needs to win."Doc Rivers

Ed Cooley has an inectious personality, a driving spirit to

work hard and win, and is one o the warmest people youllmeet. You can scour the country and fnd plenty o hometown

success stories o coaches coming back to their alma matersor places where they grew up. But there will be ew that can

match the authenticity o Cooley and Providence. Andy Katz

    ESPN.com Senior College Basketball Writer

``Ed Cooley is the ideal choice or Providence. He has that rareability to connect with players, yet also command the respectthat is needed to succeed at the highest level. It's not just the

story o the local kid coming home; but a local kid who truly ftsback home. Providence needs an outgoing coach that will goout, sell the program and also be able to land big-time recruits.

I think Ed Cooley can do all those things and make Providence aplayer in the Big East."Jef Goodman
