Introduction

Students at Leibler Yavneh College enjoy the opportunities and benefits of being members of our College. It is expected that students will uphold the ethos and values of the College, both within and outside the College when in College uniform. Students must not act in such a way that the image of the school is brought into disrepute nor in a way that harms members of the College community.

Rationale

Uniform Policy reinforces in students a pride in their own appearance, instils recognition of themselves as an integral part of the College community, and assists in developing pride in representing their school. Issues of equality, health and safety, and expense are also factors. It is a requirement that all students wear the full school uniform, including school shoes, to and from school and while representing the College at external events such as excursions, debating, competitions etc. Aim

To promote equality amongst all students. To support a sense of pride in, and belonging to the College. To provide appropriate clothing that is cost effective and practical for our school

environment. To maintain and enhance the positive image of the College in the community. To encourage students to present themselves appropriately and prepare them for the

expectations of workplaces. Expectations

1. We expect boys to wear Tzitzit and Kippah at all times. 2. Girls’ dresses and skirts must be knee length at all times. 3. Girls’ hair must be neat and tidy and natural in colouring. Only blue or white hair accessories

are permitted. Long hair must be kept out of eyes and off the face. 4. Boys’ hair must be neat and tidy, natural in colouring, kept above the collar in length (no

ponytails) and out of eyes and behind ears. (Senior staff reserve the right to determine what is meant by “neat”.)

5. Students are not allowed facial piercings. 6. Discreet wearing of jewellery (boys and girls), makeup or nail polish (girls) is permitted. 7. VCE College-approved windcheaters may be worn by Year 12 students. 8. Only plain white short-sleeved T-shirts are to be worn under shirts and a neat and tidy

presentation is vital. 9. All students are required to wear the full Sport uniform for Physical Education and Sports in

Years 7-12.

Breach of Policy

Students who are not in full uniform must supply a valid reason and will be issued with a Uniform pass. Students without a valid reason will be issued with an after school detention. A breach of this policy may also involve a breach of other College policies and should be read in conjunction with the:
