Unit Plan 12th grade Geology

Analyze learners

My class is twenty students eleven girls and nine boys. None of the students have any mental or learning disabilities. Eleventh and twelfth grade, aged sixteen to eighteen years.

Conditions My class will enumerate various geologic

processes as well as identify some key minerals that make up the Earth with an 85% accuracy.› Monday: Review the rock cycle and geologic

time.› Tuesday: Learn sedimentary rocks and their

significance to the rock cycle (field trip!)› Wednesday: learn Igneous rocks and their

significance to the rock cycle› Thursday: Metamorphic rocks and their

significance to the rock cycle› Friday: Fossils; how they occur and their

signifigance

Conditions (continued) This will be done by

› Lectures that have videos or powerpoints› Worksheets to identify the various geologic

processes of the rock cycle› Physically identifying samples of the key

minerals that make up the earth

› Identifying these minerals inside their respective rock types
