Kingdom Bacteria
• Evolution: – Bacteria were the 1st organisms on earth.
Other cells may have evolved from bacteria
• Development: – Singled celled = unicellular (sometimes
come in groups– Prokaryotes = no nucleus– Variety of sizes
Kingdom Bacteria
• Homeostasis: Cell wall called capsule for protection
• Continuity: Reproduce by splitting – Asexually - Called “binary fission”
• Ecology: Bacteria are EVERYWHERE! – They interact with everything
Protista Kingdom
• EX: brown and red algae, diatoms, cillitates, slime molds
• Energy: Have chloroplast organelle for photosynthesis– Autotrophs = make own food
Protista Kingdom
• Development:– Single celled (BUT can grow in colonies)– Eukaryotes – have a nucleus
• Continuity:– Asexual reproduction– Sexual reproduction
Protista Kingdom
• Ecology: – Live in wet areas– Interactions will all living organisms, including
you!– Plasmodium Malaria
Kingdom Fungi• Evolution: Evolved to be multicellular =
many cells
• Homeostasis: Have cell wall
• Energy:– Decomposers = release enzymes into
environment to break down dead material– ALSO heterotrophs = consumers
Kingdom Fungi
• Continuity: Sexual reproduction– Spores released into air
Kingdom Fungi
• Development: Have special cells called hyphae aids in water/nutrient absorption
• EX: Mushrooms,
– Yeast, molds
Plantae Kingdom
Homeostasis:– Has rigid cell wall
Evolution: 1st multicellular organismMore cells = more complex.
• Energy:– Chloroplast – photosynthetic– Autotrophs – make own food
Plantae Kingdom
• Continuity:– Sexual reproduction: cross pollination– Asexual reproduction: self-fertilization
– EX: Trees, flowers, grass, moss, lichen (land and water)
Kingdom Anamalia• Evolution: We are the most advance and
evolved kingdom!
• Homeostasis:
–Human = shiver, sweat
–Animals have skin, fur, scales
–Dogs = pant when it’s hot
–Reptiles = cold blooded
Kingdom Animalia
• Energy: Consumers – we eat other organisms
• Continuity: Sexual reproduction
–Embryos
–Fish or bird eggs OR live babies
