Does this story help me to assess whether my life is in line with God’s will for me or if some part of my life needs adjusting, because it is out of place. The great stories of our faith, found in the Bible, sometimes act as mirrors and at other times are like windows.

Think with me for a mo-ment. A mirror reflects an image. It can help us to determine what we look like. It sometimes shows when something is dis-helved or out of place. A window is a little different. Through a window we see to other places. We see beyond where we are.

So if we applied these con-cepts to the Bible, I believe we find stories that act like mirrors and some that function like windows.

As you read the Bible, I hope you will pause to consider is this story a mir-ror of what is happening to me? Is there a reflection of my life found in the lives of the people in the story? Does this story help me to assess whether my life is in line with God’s will for me or if some part of my life needs adjusting, because it is out of place. Is there a way I could look at my life situations differently or consider God’s purpose for

me, or recognize that life is bigger than all that I am facing in the moment? These are some good questions to apply to your study.

What is the purpose of study-ing the Bible, after all? The Bible cautions that “knowing puffs up, but love builds up.” Ultimately, we study the Bible, not to brag about how many verses we know or to be full of knowledge. We study the Bi-ble to gain wisdom. Wisdom is applying the knowledge. It is living the verses we have learned. And in living them out we experience and express love. The Bible is a story of God’s interaction with human-ity. It reveals much about the character and nature of God and of human beings. It ele-vates the way we are to live and can change our lives, if we follow its principles.

There is no better gift you can give yourself than by opening yourself to God and receiving Jesus into your life. YES! Je-sus loves us, the Bible tells us so!

See you at God’s House this weekend! -jim d.

CCHILDRENHILDREN/Y/YOUTHOUTH WOW WOW We dive into different stages of Jesus’ life throughout the year, but very rarely do we go through his entire life beginning to end. That’s exactly what we are going to do in Children and Youth WOW! Through games, crafts, service pro-jects and Bible stories we are going to learn how we fit into Jesus’ story and how he fits into ours. We will embrace what happens when we start treating other people with kindness, serve other people, take a break from life to sit in silence with God, and how the resurrection affects our life daily. You won’t want to miss out on this! Wonderful on Wednesdays starts Sept. 17th
