Similar exercise conducted in all 5 UN Regional Commissions

In UNECE region, the Inventory covers all 56 countries

In general, information sources are Websites, organized in an Excel file

Different types of migration-related information sources:• Statistical information

• Policies and programmes

• Legislation

• and other…

Institutional categories of sources included in the inventory

Different categories of sources are included:• International organizations (incl. Regional, Country

offices)

• Governmental agencies and departments (incl. NSIs, Migration services)

• Academic and research institutions

• Networks

• NGOs

Data collected for each information source

For each source, data is collected on:• Type of source (Intl. Org, Gov, Academic, NGO...)

• Name

• Location (country, city)

• Coverage (country/ies)

• Web page or other contact information

• Additional information/description

• Keyword [subject to availability of additional funding]

Status of preparation of inventory Work done on Feb-Apr 2010:

• Research, evaluation, selection of sources (approximately 1500 considered, 1200 retained)

• Preparation of first draft inventory in Excel Additional work planned in December 2010:

• Review and improve first draft, also with support from national focal points

• Release of public version planned in early 2011 Future work (subject to availability of funds):

• Add keywords to sources to facilitate search• Develop version in more user-friendly format than

Excel (i.e., database type with search functions)
